The Coronavirus COVID-19


Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is a new strain that was discovered in 2019 and has not been previously identified in humans. Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, the infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death.

The first known case of the novel Coronavirus was traced back to December 1st, 2019 in Wuhan, Hubei, China A later unconfirmed claim, citing Chinese government documents, suggests that the first victim was a 55-year-old man who fell ill on 17 November 2019. The Coronavirus COVID-19 is affecting 163 countries and territories around the world. Globally, the virus has infected almost 184976 people and killed at least 7,529, according to the WHO. Almost 80,000 people have recovered from the infection.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is characterized by mild symptoms including a runny nose, sore throat, cough, and fever. Illness can be more severe for some people and can lead to pneumonia or breathing difficulties. More rarely, the disease can be fatal. Older people, and people with other medical conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease), maybe more vulnerable to becoming severely ill, People may experience: runny nose, sore throat, cough, fever, difficulty breathing (severe cases)

In Bangladesh found several infected persons are expatriates who have recently returned from Italy. The others are their family members according to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) confirmed. Around 43 people are in institutional quarantine, while 16 are isolated at different government hospitals. The government has decided to close all academic institutions, including primary to a higher level, and dormitories until March 31, considering the growing public concern, decided to cancel any event that included a mass gathering to prevent the spread of the disease including "Mujib Barsha" (Year of Mujib).

There is no specific medicine to prevent or treat Coronavirus disease (COVID-19). People may need supportive care to help them breathe. If you have mild symptoms, stay at home until you’ve recovered. You can relieve your symptoms if you: rest and sleep, keep warm, drink plenty of liquids use a room humidifier or take a hot shower to help ease a sore throat and cough. If you develop a fever, cough, and have difficulty breathing, promptly seek medical care. Call in advance and tell your health provider of any recent travel or recent contact with travelers.

According to the WHO (World Health Organization), to keep yourself safe if you travel during the COVID-19 outbreak, you have to wash your hands frequently, Do not touch your face with unwashed hands, Keep your distance, Clean frequently-touched objects with a cleaning spray or wipe, Avoid crowds – especially in closed spaces, Wear a mask and seek medical help if you develop symptoms.
