The stolen dog Waffle’s owner got a ransom call to pay £1,000 to avoid beheading of the dog

The six-month-old Labradoodle was taken from the owner ‘at knifepoint.’ She was taking a pleasant walk in Cornwall. Now the prankster has sent a ransom note to the owner and threatened that they would behead the dog if she failed to pay £1,000. Cathryn Hussain, the owner, is devastated by the incident. She said she was approached by a male when she was walking down Belmont Road in St Austell at 7 am on December 23. He was approx 5-feet and 8-inch tall and was wearing a black, hooded top along with a scarf. He spoke with a foreign accent. The officers are looking into the CCTV footage and talking to the witnesses. Cathryn said that her Christmas had been a washout because of those pranksters. Waffle is still missing, and police have no leads. The worst is every call is coming on her daughter’s phone. They received a text message from someone who said if she does not pay, they will kill the dog. Police have traced the message and found out that she was a woman who was not even living in Cornwall. Police have urged people to come with any information they have about Waffle.

Hundred of users complained as Freeview suffered downtime

Freeview is down in many parts of England and Wales due to “high-pressure weather.” According to the service provider, it will remain the same throughout the week. The issue resulted in thousands of customers without access to television. The service provider said that weather conditions are not favorable, and there are technical problems because of that. The issue may take up to a week to get resolved. The company requested its customers to avoid retuning their TV as the signal will improve with the weather. Freeview’s spokesperson said in a statement that the high-pressure weather conditions across the UK are causing picture break up or loss of channels for some of the viewers. He added that the customers should not retune the TV. At the moment, it looks like the conditions will remain the same, and the viewers will experience difficulty. However, they can still watch live and on-demand TV through players like BBC iPlayer and ITV hub over an internet connection connected to Freeview Play TV. Also, the customers can live to stream their shows on the mobile app.

Parents posted an ad for a nanny for 18-year-old who is off to University of Leeds for her first year of college to study Law

An ad popped up posted by anonymous parents who are believed to be from Canada in which they mentioned that they are looking for a nanny who is required to cook and clean for their 18-year-old daughter. The ad said that she already has a driver who picks up groceries and drive her around. It included a job for a private chef as well, who can cook two or three meals a day. Social media is stunned to look at the job listing. The parents seem to be worried that their daughter will get stressed if she had to do anything herself, including laundry and cleaning. As per the post, the intense undergraduate Law schedule needs her complete attention, so they want to provide full support to her in the form of a nanny, chef, and driver. Social media users are claiming this rich people ad shows how mental parents can be. The application mentioned that the chef does not have to be a gourmet one but someone who can ensure their daughter gets three healthy meals a day, and the fridge is always full of juice and healthy snacks.

Family Christmas meal got ruined because of bad service

A family has to wait for an hour just for the starters. The whole experience of a £250 five-course meal was utterly ruined because of the disastrous service by the restaurant. The group said that it was the worst Christmas Day ever. The Kitchen staff was arguing with each other, and the waitress was very rude while talking to them. After so much humiliation, they decided to leave at 4:30 pm finally. Jo Macpherson was with her partner and his family for £250 for the Xmas dinner at The Bathampton Mill, off Mill Lane, in Bath. She claimed that her partner Simon Wright, 59, his mum Beryl Wright, 85, and his daughter Harriet Wright, eight, were booked in for 3.15 pm. However, when they reached on time, they were made to wait for an hour before they can get their first course. Jo, 38, of Bath, said that they went back to Mr. Wright's home in Box thoroughly dejected. They ended the day having frozen pizza, cheese, and crackers as that was the only food they had at home. Bathampton Mill issued an apology and said they would make a full refund.

Leeds United verdict on crazy Birmingham City win is interesting

Stubborn Blues side was rallied to fend off by Marcelo Bielsa’s side to record a vital three-point at St Andrew’s. They ensured that their team spends New Year’s Day at the top of the Championship. Leeds United beat Birmingham City by 5-4 yesterday in a crazy afternoon of Championship action at St Andrew’s. After 21 minutes to rally, Blues recovered from 2-0 down and equalized. However, Marcelo Bielsa’s side was stunning as they look to move top of the league. On the other hand, Leeds showed why they would see the New Year at the summit of the second tier as they recovered three times to secure the victory with a 95th0minute Wes Harding own goal. The score left Blues at 17th place in the Championship and eight points off the relegation zone after 25 games.

Preston goalscorer Alan Browne on the game plan that stifled Leeds United at Elland Road

Preston midfielder Alan Browne told that it has always been his side’s plan to get on top of Leeds United at Elland Road.

Alan Browne had set his side ahead in the first half with a well-worked team goal, but the North End skipper stayed upbeat despite his side’s late concession in West Yorkshire and finally admitted that the game plan worked almost to perfection.

Browne said, “Coming away to Elland Road, beforehand, you’d probably take a draw. It is a fine result for any side, especially looking at the form they are in.”

“We had enough chances to win the game, but they came hard at us in the second half. I knew that there was always going to be a spell where they would put us under pressure.”

“Our game plan was to get on top of them. For the first 45 minutes, we dominated the game and got our goal. But they put us under pressure in the second half and got their deserved goal.”

The refill stores in Yorkshire are leading the way in a zero-waste revolution in the fight against climate change.

Ian Thursfield takes a handful of jars from a customer on a busy afternoon at Leeds’s Kirkgate Market. Ian quickly notes down the weight of the jars and hands them back to his patron, who then moves around his ‘zero waste’ store.

Shoppers coming to The JarTree are armed with containers, and then fills them from the store’s selection of wares - cupboard essentials, dried goods, toiletries, and household cleaning products, which are free of any packaging and are all-clear from plastic.

Exact numbers are hard to tell, but Ian’s shop is one of a wave of refill stores that have been opening all across the UK in the past two years. These shops follow the trend named by some to be the rumblings of a ‘zero-waste revolution.’

These shops are motivating the fight against plastic and excess packaging. Keeping the environmental impact in mind, they present shoppers a choice to change their consumer habits.

Why Leeds needs a public transport revolution to get the city moving again

I live in Harehills and mostly use buses to get into Leeds city center, though I depend on my partner to leave me at the university as part of his commute when I have early morning commitments or on poor weather days.

The time taken to walk the full distance to the university is the same as to catch two buses in and out of town. But, as a young female, I feel scared to walk my usual journey in the dark- especially in winter.

It is necessary that the legislation provides for a radical overhaul of the public transport system to make it carbon neutral, reliable, cheap, and, most importantly, a desirable service to use.

The infra enclosing the city center should also begin to shift from being car-centric to more bicycle and pedestrian-friendly.

Other means of touring the city center must become more charming than car usage, or else, the problem will only escalate.

Leeds United confirm player departure.

Leeds United have confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur has recalled Jack Clarke early from his loan spell at Elland Road.

It did not come as a surprise to see Spurs recalling Jack from his loan in Yorkshire as Clarke has only made three appearances for Marcelo Bielsa’s side this season.

Jack Clarke emerged with Leeds last season and played a key role as Leeds United finished inside the top-six in the Championship in Bielsa’s first season.

His impressive performance did not go overlooked as Spurs signed Clarke in the summer of 2019, before loaning him back to Leeds.

But, the season did not go as Clarke would have hoped for, as the excellent form shown by the likes of Jack Harrison and Ezgjan Alioski has kept the Spurs loanee out of the starting XI.

Clarke rarely even made to the substitutes bench due to the limitation on the number of loanees one can have in a matchday squad.
