Seven Tasmanian devils were born in the wild in Australia for the first time in more than 3,000 years

Tasmanian devils, which are not usually dangerous to humans, have completely disappeared from mainland Australia after the advent of dingoes, a type of wild dog that hunts in packs.

Last year, conservationists released 26 adult marsupial carnivores into a reserve in Barrington Tops, north of Sydney. This was the first step in trying to create a sustainable population of endangered species that were destroyed.
