Hi everyone, As a volunteer and intern in HPNGO, i learnt many new things about this organization and also challenges faced by the underprivileged people in rural and tribal areas of India. Hamaari Pahchan NGO is a Non Government Organization which provides a platform and opportunities for the people belonging to weaker sections of our society, dedicated to itself to uplift those communities. It is established by Tharun Mathur in 2013. He is International Chess Player, Officer at Air India, Founder of Hamari Pahchan NGO, Social Activist and Debate Panelist. HPNGO is mainly working on creating awareness to the people and crowd funding so that the collected amount will be used to certain causes such as

Education for all: Every child deserves an equal opportunity to learn. This is the main motive of raising funds by the fundraisers to contribute the donors amount for providing quality education through their employees or volunteers and necessities (study items) required, which the children from weaker sections are lacking with those and can't afford to study. Even in the government schools there is lack of proper education, and materials required for study. To fulfill that gap HPNGO is donating few study kits, books and teaching services for those underprivileged children.

Access to proper and healthy food for all: Every child deserves clean and nutrient food to eat everyday. This is the main motive of raising funds by the fundraisers to contribute the donors amount for providing them cooked quality food and it's raw materials (groceries and other edible products) for their families and government schools, which the childrens families from weaker sections cannot afford to buy and suffer with their child's malnutrition. Even children eating mid-day meals at government schools are not provided with good food and can only accessible for 1 meal a day. Because malnutrition is affecting a complete generation of our country, it should be vanished by the contributions made by HPNGO for its sake. Every child should be healthy and strong.

Menstrual hygiene for underprivileged women: Fight period poverty, help in breaking the shame and stigma associated with menstruation. This is the main motive of raising funds by the fundraisers to contribute the donors amount for providing them sanitary napkins and other sanitary products and creating awareness to those women regarding menstrual hygiene because most of them cannot afford them every month and adjust themselves using unhygienic products such as cloth, leaves etc during periods which are not safe for their reproductive health and later suffer with menstrual diseases.

Support women empowerment and their financial independence: To support women and encourage them to stand on their own feet and make them to acquire their own skills is the main motive of raising funds by the fundraisers to contribute the donors amount for providing them learning classes and equipments for Makeup, Handicrafts, Knitting, Sewing, Embroidery, Candle and Diya making, Music and other crafts to make them start their own business in their respective areas and expand their market to urban areas also. So that their skills are developed and new self employment opportunities are also generated.

Our elders need us, say no to elder abuse: Senior citizens need our support. This is the main motive of raising funds by the fundraisers to contribute the donors amount for providing them mental and physical support for those who don't have employment at that age and no other income source and lack of emotional and moral support by their own children, familes, relatives and other friends; are been taken care of sympathy and personal care by providing them required things.

So here, I have worked with this NGO as a volunteer and get to know about these things in depth and understood the sad reality of our society. I created a fundraiser link for SUKHAD with my name for raising donations. I choosed it because I felt creating awareness and providing sanitary napkins for underprivileged women and girls is very necessary because a lot of menstrual diseases are increasing day by day in our country. There might be many reasons for that, but unhygienic practices during periods is also one of the major reason for menstrual diseases. So if a women is strong and healthy the whole family, the whole society and the whole nation will be strong and healthy. If those women started using pads and learn to know about hygiene practices during the menstrual cycle they will get the knowledge about menstrual helath and start taking care of themselves and their daughters. So this might reduce the risk of their menstrual health problems in future. And soon like a chain network they will start spreading awareness and knowledge to other women in their societies or communities.

We should join our hands to contribute to our mercy for those underprivileged people and make our India move forward. Development of a country not only lies in the infrastructural and technological improvements but also in the movement and development of these weaker communities and main problems such as poverty, hunger, unemployment, illiteracy, backwardness in health and education sectors should also be demolished as early as possible for a better future of India.

It is collaborated with Milaap Social Ventures (crowd funding campaign and platform) to raise donations. As my duty I contributed and raised few donations for SUKHAD. And also I contributed for ELDERLY and MALNUTRITION through other fundraisers links. Donation to Hamari Pahchan entitles you to Tax Exemption under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. For that we need to fill a form after the donation.

Yours Thankfully

Stand for Elders

by Naripireddy Anu Ramya

Imagine you are getting older, and you have no one to take care of you. You gave wings to your kids and made them fly on their own, but everyone has chosen their own path and destined to their own family and completely forgotten how they got that life. It is the same as a parent bird waiting for its grown-up kids to come back but they never will. Imagine you wanted to live the last few years or maybe a few months with your loved ones but all you have is just you and yourself. If you have rich kids with little kind hearts, they may look after you or at least send some money. If your kids are in the middle class, they fight among themselves to get rid of you, they look at it as a burdening responsibility to take care of their parents who worked hard for their happiness and who sacrificed everything just for their kids. If your kids are poor, they cannot themselves have anything to give you and will never think about looking after you. I am not saying everyone will be like that, but it happens in most scenarios. All those old age years, you just crave for love and spending time with the people who make you happy, but they are busy making themselves and their own families happy. But you still wish for their well-being. Your kids will make you join at the old age home centers. Maybe you can’t find a home there, but you can find a house there to survive. It is not a movie to have a happy ending that your kids will come back to you. Maybe they will but they won’t stay with you for long enough.

You are lucky if you have a living spouse, you won’t feel alone. But as grown-up adults, one should not never dump their parents for their own family, it is disrespecting your parents and disrespecting your own parenting. What if your own kids treat you in the same way when you get older. It is just KARMA; it comes back around. It is our responsibility to take care of our parents, in fact we should feel lucky to look after them after they looked after us for so many years, probably decades and gave us a proper foundation for the settled life of ours. We should be thankful for the life they gave for us with many sacrifices. We should stand for them, we should stand for all the elders who are made left out by their very own grown-up kids. They gave us beautiful memories and made our childhood, teenage years wonderful. Let us make their old age look amazing with mesmerizing memories.

“The future belongs to those who learn more skills and combine them in creative ways.” - Robert Greene. Skills are very important if one wants to be independent because skill earns livelihood. Here, I would like to highlight the importance of skill development and initiatives taken by Hamari Pahchan NGO.

According to Periodic Labour Force Survey data 2019-20, 86.1% of those between 15 and 59 years had not received any kind of vocational training. India has an advantage of demographic dividend because of its vast population, it has a high scope of providing skilled manpower to the labour market. But unfortunately, only 4.7% of the total workforce in India had undergone formal skill training. The Government of India has taken initiatives like Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, SANKALP and STRIVE to improve relevant skills in the workforce.

Rising Need for Treated Water Augmenting Wood Vinegar Consumption

For more insides:-

Wood vinegar or wood acid or pyroligneous acid is a dark liquid, which is derived from charcoal. It is obtained by heating biomass in a closed container. The smoke generated during charcoal production is cooled into a liquid and then separated into bio-oil, tar, and wood vinegar. The dark liquid is a combination of nearly 80–90% water and over 200 organic compounds, such as acetic acid, esters, formic acid, ketones, methanol, and phenol.

Moreover, the increasing implementation of government initiatives regarding bio-based products will also ensure the large-scale adoption of wood vinegar for wastewater treatment, food, animal husbandry, wood tar, and agriculture applications. In the recent past, the agriculture sector has emerged as the largest consumer of wood vinegar due to the enormous use of bio-based fertilizers and pesticides to increase productivity. For instance, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India, has launched several programs in recent times to promote the use of biomass materials and bio-based products, such as wood vinegar.

The manufacturing segment of the wood vinegar market is categorized into slow paralysis, fast and intermediate pyrolysis, and others. Under this segment, the slow pyrolysis category is expected to account for the largest market share during the forecast period as slow pyrolysis provides a better yield of wood vinegar, char, and other products than other manufacturing processes. In comparison to other processes, slow pyrolysis exhibits a longer vapor resistance time and slower heating rate.

In recent years, wood vinegar producers, such as TAGROW CO. LTD., Nakashima Trading Co. Ltd., Ace (Singapore) Pte Ltd., Canada Renewable Bioenergy Corporation, Byron Biochar, and Nettenergy BV, have engaged in technological advancements to develop better and improved pyrolysis kiln methods to produce char, biochar, and wood vinegar. Additionally, the advanced pyrolysis methods help enhance the production process of wood vinegar and reduce the total manufacturing process. Further, the producers are also focusing on involving poverty-ridden people in wood vinegar production processes as the material is majorly produced in villages by using local resources and feedstock.

Geographically, the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region held the largest share in the wood vinegar market in 2015. This was on account of the presence of a vast base of end users and the existence of a large number of local producers in the region. Moreover, the surging need for clean water, owing to the booming population, will also create a huge requirement for wood vinegar in the coming years. For instance, the World Bank states that the population of India surged from 1.353 billion in 2018 to 1.366 billion in 2019.

Thus, the escalating need for treated water and surging government focus on using bio-based products will fuel the consumption of wood vinegar globally.

Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world and the most effective way to break out of the cycle of poverty. Yet, millions of children remain out-of-school in India. Before the COVID-19 crisis, 6 million children were out of school. When the pandemic struck, school closures impacted the education of 247 children enrolled in elementary and secondary schools. These children are not only deprived of their right to receive a quality education, but they lose their childhood by being pushed into child labour and early marriages.

The government, through the Right to Education Act, 2009, has been making its way in enrolling and retaining children in school, especially from the marginalized sector. However, any progress made had been hampered by the pandemic. While online education replaced regular classes, students from vulnerable communities without access to smartphones and the internet were left behind. Two years of school closures in India resulted in a huge learning gap.

The Power of NGOs

Whenever there is a major imbalance, NGOs exist to balance the see-saw in times of crises. NGOs like Oxfam India play a significant role in ensuring that every child, especially those from vulnerable communities, receive the opportunity to build a better future through education. Organisations such as Oxfam India, Save the Children, World Vision, UNICEF, Cry etc in India work at the grass-root level to strengthen the education system, spread awareness about the importance of education and enrol as many children as possible so they can thrive in life.

Oxfam India is an NGO that works in states such as Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Odisha to send the most vulnerable and underprivileged children back to school and empower them to break the cycle of poverty. As well as ensure that the education of children from such communities continues in the midst of the pandemic.

NGO works through contributions and you too can support an NGO and change a child's life forever. While supporting a cause, your donation is eligible up to 50% tax benefit under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. When you donate to an NGO like Oxfam India, you help in the following ways:

NGOs work towards identifying the most vulnerable children in the poorest states of India. Due to unaccessibility and poverty and in times of humanitarian crisis - children miss out on school. Oxfam India helps enrol children in school under the Right to Education Act (RTE), and ensure that children who have dropped out of school as a result of the pandemic, are re-enrolled in school. As of September 2022, 1081 children have been re-enrolled in school as schools across the country start to re-open.

Awareness and Counselling

Through workshops and various activities, awareness is generated amongst parents and local communities about the importance of education. Oxfam India also conducts regular counselling sessions to encourage parents to send their children especially girls to school and help them participate in various activities
