Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has approved the formation of Economic Transformation Advisory Council in the state. CM Ashok Gehlot will be the chairman of this advisory council and Dr. Arvind Mayaram will be the vice-chairman. The council will have former IAS Dr. Govind Sharma, Advisor, Chief Minister member. Apart from this, the Chief Secretary, ACS Finance, Principal Secretary CM has been appointed as Member Secretary and Principal Secretary Planning as Member Secretary.
Other members include Dr. Rathin Roy, Dr. Ashok Gulati, Anil Agarwal, Laxmi Niwas Mittal, Naina Lal Kidwai, Dr. Devi Shetty, Vikram dutt Mehta, Keshav Desiraju, Naved Khan, Dr. Shivkumar Sarin, Dr. Ashok Panagadia, Faith Singh , Nandita Das, Dr. Jyotindra Jain, Kavita Singh, Prof. Errol D'Souza, Amit Kapoor, Vijay Kumar, Rajiv Gowda, Mangu Singh, Pradeep S. Mehta and Prof. Dinesh Singh is included.
The council will identify the challenges facing the economic growth and development of the state, especially fiscal management, creation of employment opportunities, etc. and advise on the effective implementation of basic services like health, sanitation and education.
A working group of the council will be formed in which the CM will nominate subject matter experts. The responsibility of the Working Group will be to provide meaningful suggestions with research and analytical activities to prepare a policy paper for the Council. The Planning Department will act as the Secretariat of the Council and its Working Group. The term of the council will be till March 2022.
