CLAT stands for Common Law Admission Test. It is an all India entrance examination
conducted by the National Law Schools for their under-graduate and post-graduate degree

The major section in the CLAT syllabus includes:
a.General Knowledge and current affairs: This section consists of a passage and it will be 450
words and each question will be from news, journals.
b. Legal reasoning: This section will also be consisting of 450 words passage and the question
will be based on legal matters.
c. English: In this section, Students will be given passages of about 450 words each, and such
passages could be fiction/ non-fiction, contemporary/historical, etc.
d. Logical Reasoning: The questions in this section would be based on the passage of 300 words
each and also the purpose of this section is to test one’s ability to think.
e. Mathematics: This section will be consisting of short sets of questions including graphs, or
other textual, pictorial, or diagrammatic representations of numerical information.
Besides knowing about the CLAT Syllabus you should also pose other qualities like Time
management skills and also should have leadership qualities. You need to focus on both the
board exam and the entrance exam equally for scoring well in both the exams and be able to take
admission in any of the National Law Universities (NLUs) across the country. Also talking about
marking schemes, the breakup of marks is generally as follows-
English (30), General knowledge (37), Maths (15), Logical reasoning (30), and legal reasoning
(38), and you will be given one mark for each correct answer, and for each wrong answer 0.25
marks will be deducted. Most importantly to be able to seat for the CLAT Exam this is the
eligibility criteria for UG students,
n 45% marks for General/ Other Backward Class (OBC)/ Specially abled person categories
and 40% marks for Scheduled Class (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories.

The cut-off of CLAT depends upon various factors that the college considers while deciding the
