After the Uddhav cabinet expansion in Maharashtra on Monday, senior NCP leader and MLA Prakash Solanki announced resignation from the assembly membership on Tuesday. Some senior Congress leaders are also unhappy with not getting a place in the cabinet. These include former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, former minister Naseem Khan, three-time MLA Praniti Shinde, Sangram Thopte, Amin Patel. All have conveyed their displeasure to Congress state in-charge Malikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi.
MLA Solanki said that I am not unhappy with any leader of my party. I have conveyed my decision to the NCP leaders to step down. I will meet the Speaker of the Assembly in Mumbai and submit my resignation letter. My resignation has nothing to do with the Cabinet expansion. NCP's Solanki has been a four-time MLA. His father Sundar Rao Solanki has been the former Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
Activists of Congress were unhappy with MLA Sangram Thopte not being included in the state cabinet. In Solapur, supporters of Praniti Shinde have sent a letter written with blood to Congress President Sonia Gandhi. It has sought to make Praniti a minister. Praniti is the daughter of senior Congress leader and former Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde. The District Congress President has warned to resign.
