All roads have been blocked to impede around 100 activists, locals and Adivasis after foisting Section 144 on them.
With the consent of Bombay High Court, Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation started recklessly cutting trees in the areas around the rampart of Aarey Colony making space for Metro 3 car shed.
Locals and activists reached the scene shoving towards the barricaded area to count the number of fallen trees. They protested against MMRC and the government for such an action. It resulted in police lathi charge and arrest of 150 people.
Reuben Mascarenhas, national joint secretary of Aam Aadmi Party, also joined the protest and got detained in the police station.
He represented Shiv Sena, an ally of BJP party, in support with protesters and requested the chief minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadanvis to abolish the charges against the activists and set them free.
He says that it would be shameful for Maharastra for arresting students and youths under the non-bailable section of IPC and some such charts against them. People are showing their love for the environment. Apprehending them under such charges will affect the reputation of India at the United Nations, creating a situation of hypocrisy.

The jostling between activists and Mumbai Metro called up Mumbai police to scene and cordon off the area detaining the people.
Leaders of different political parties came up with the support of the activists and slammed the ruling state government.
While restricting the movement, the Mumbai police arrested 29 protestors and detained several people through lathi charge. NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad, Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi, Sena leader and former mayor Shubha Raul got held at the scene.
