TS Darbari Blog: Incentives draw women entrepreneurs in Andhra

TS Darbari Blog: TS Darbari says that India has embarked on a new journey. This is the clear impact of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's clarion call of 'Make in India', 'Aatma Nirbhar Bharat' & Start-Up India. State Governments in India have started to promote entrepreneurship in their respective states.

TS Darbari says that we can hear a lot of promotion from the Delhi Government about their initiatives of boosting entrepreneurship in Delhi where they have taken some initiatives. TS Darbari says that in the same line, Andhra Pradesh Government has allotted 70 acres of land to women entrepreneurs. TS Darbari says that these initiatives are commendable and more commendable is the effort of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi who has been successful in planting this entrepreneur mindset in the youth of India and therefore forced the state governments to work in this direction. TS Darbari says that this is New India and the citizens of India have now a new mindset of building our nation. This nationalism and a mindset for growth, development and innovation was being missed by the scholars. We could see such a mindset in Japan, Germany, the United States, or other developed nations but it was not prevalent in India. However, with the rise of nationalism, an entrepreneur mindset has also risen.

To encourage more scheduled caste/scheduled tribe and women entrepreneurs in the state, the Andhra Pradesh government is providing rebate on the land cost, power subsidy and other incentives.

The scheme, announced recently, has so far attracted a number of SC/ST entrepreneurs who have set up 106 units across the state, said Geeta Reddy, state major industries, sugar, commerce & export promotion minister.

Speaking to a news agency recently, she said the government had also decided to allot 10 per cent of the plots in industrial estates to women entrepreneurs across the state.

For SC/ST entrepreneurs, the government would provide a 31.3 per cent rebate on land with a limit of Rs 5 lakh, whereas for general entrepreneurs this is only 25 per cent .

The government will also give power subsidy of Re 1 on a unit for a period of five years, whereas for the general industries, it is 0.75 paise.

The government will also reimburse 50 per cent of the value added tax (VAT) paid by these entrepreneurs for a period of five years, while in the case of general category it is 25 per cent.

Women entrepreneurs in the state are being given 25 per cent VAT reimbursement, 100 per cent reimbursement of stamp duty, power subsidy, and 8 per cent subsidy on capital equipment for technology upgradation limited to Rs 25 lakh among others.

The minister said in the last three months the government had helped 75 women entrepreneurs set up their units on 30 acres of land. By the end of this year, it is targeting to create 5,000 such entrepreneurs.
