Bullying and Cyberbullying During the Covid-19 Pandemic

From the starting of 2020 over the last 22 months the bullying has become worse since the start of the covid-19 pandemic. Early on, there was a concern that cyber-bullying incidents in particular would increases as youth were spending more time online platforms such as YouTube, Tik-Tok, Instagram, Facebook, etc. During the covid-19 pandemic, there is an increase in kids and teens using digital platforms and it's not just for personal use they are using digital platform for educational purpose as well.

With the increased usage of a smart phones and social media, students who are prone to building are likely to cyber bullying. Due to increasing the amount of time in digital activities, then anxiety level and depression increased and bullying has only gotten worse.

Facebook, Instagram and Twitter may be the main social network used to keep in touch with friends but worryingly they are also the main sites used for cyberbullying and internet trolling. Even on the most popular platform focused on fun and entertainment like Tik-Tok, you can still find cyberbullying.

Whether you use this popular media sharing site or have children or teens who do, it is essential to learn how to sport these type of bully attacks so that we can take effective steps to stop it. During the pandemic School bullying behaves have undoubtedly dropped due to lockdown, But when it comes to cyber bullying, however the incident were more during the pandemic, most said they had been bullied online more during pandemic.


Cyber bullying is at peaked in the starting but the school bullying decreased. To stop or decrease this activities parents and teachers have a duty of care when it comes to online safety, the best way to Prevent cyberbullying is to educate young people.

While using social media make your account private. Use privacy setting to only allow direct messages from people you know and trust.

It is impossible to avoid all cyberbullying behavior no matter what platform you spend your time on. But if you find any negative behavior to just block them and take all prevention which you can do.
