The former president of Madagascar, who headed the country for more than 20 years, has died

Didier Ratsiraka died on March 28 at the age of 84.

Death occurred in the capital's military hospital, where he was sent on March 22 with a diagnosis of influenza. Doctors assured that his condition does not inspire any concern. However, on Sunday night, his health suddenly deteriorated.

No official cause of death has yet been announced.
