Mandwani rind

Balochi; مندوانی رند) is a sub-clan of the Rind tribe and are descendants of Mir Mandow Rind.

Mir Mandow was father in law of a famous Warrior chakar e azam and was one of the Amirs of Balochistan. He ruled the territory of Kalat from 1488 to 1503 and spent a glorious tenure of 15 years of his Govern ship. Historical evidences cited the Baloch tribe as a brave and Warrior nation.

According to Mir gul khan nasir Rai Bahdar Lala Hoto Ram, Mr justice Khuda Bakhsh Bajarani and others writers, Kalat was under control of a Hindu empire Sewa and was defeated by the Mughals. Mughals were further defeated by the Mirwanies and Mir Umer Mirwani took over the charge of state. Mir Chakar was interested in Kalat and organized powerful alliance with Mir Mandow Mandwani Rind and Lashari tribes to fight against Mir Umer Mirwani and succeeded after a bloodshed war. After two years ruling the state, Mir Chakar Khan Rind planed to conquer Sibi and started travelling with his troops towards Balochistan. Mir Mandow rind the father in law of Mir Chakar was appointed as head of Kalat who ruled about 15 years. Rinds lost their strength during a 30 year long and fatal war against Lasharis. Mir Bajar Mirwani had to counter the murder of his father Mir Umer Mirwani and started preparing a force to defeat Mir Mandow Rind and turned to end up a 15 years governance of Mandwanis at Kalat. Mir Mandow Rind alongwith his tribe migrated towards Punjab and occupied Multan. History mentions him as Amir of Balochistan. Aroound 1535 Mir Chakar having many victories in hand came to Mir Mandow Rind and appeared infront of him as a successful warrior. Whereas, on the other side Sher Shah Suri was preparing an Afghan force to Defeat Baloch regimes and appointed Haibat Khan as a force commander in 1544 to attack on Multan. Abbas khan Sherwani narrated in Akbar Shahi that Haibat Khan launched an assault and surrounded the Balochi tribes all around but Mir Mandow managed to escape with his troops and family members. Hebat Khan was rewarded with the title of Hamayun Azam by Sher Shah Suri in recognition of his services. History mentions that Mir Mandow Rind was arrested in injured state. Rai Bahdar Lalla Huto Ram in his book “Tareekh e Balochistan” reported 17 wars between Khan of Kalat and Barozai tribes in retaliation of the murder of two sons of Shah Baig Mandwani, resulting into thousands of casualties. War zone of Mir Mandow Rind can be traced till eastern parts of the Territory (sub continent). It is famous that Mir Mandow Rind also got married with a graceful lady and was blessed by a Daughter named Hani who was married with Chakar e Azam. Tareekh e Balchistan has narrated the love stories of Hani and Sheh Mureed that has become an important part of Balochi Poetry. `Mir Gohram Khan Lashari challenged Mir Chakar Khan Rind during a dreadful war between Rind and Lashari tribes that even the sons of Mir Mandow can not save you from defeat. Gazette of Balochistan page 218 referred that Miro Zai tribe deprived the Godhries from the leadership of Rinds since eight generations whereas, Godhries divested Mandwanies to be the leaders of Rind tribes. After the happening of Multan incident, Mir Chakar Khan Rind migrated to Satgarah Okara but history is silent on the whereabouts of Mir Mandow Rind. Presently Mandwani tribes are settled in different areas of Pakistan and India. Dominating areas in Balochistan are Quetta, Kalat Robdar, Dera Bugti, Baarkhan Rurhkan, Sibi, Dhadar, Bolan, Old city of Gulo shehr Sibi and in Sind Nawab Shah, Distrrict Dadu, Ghotki. Descendants are also found in Pujab including Dera Ghazi Khan, jatoi, Birot Mandwani, Basti Mandwani, Districts Muzafar Garh, Jhang, sahiwal Sargodha and Khushab. They are also settled along the bank of Jehlum. Their existence can also be found in India

Let me go to the mountains,

To pick the wild white flowers from there,

To put them in vase and give them to you,

While the sun will be setting ,

And,

We would be standing barefooted on the wet grass,

You will smell them closing your eyes ,

And,.

The last ray of sun will kiss you,

We would walk there in the green field hand in hand,

And I will gently put my fingers in your soft hair,

It would make you to rest your head on my chest,

And,

I would softly guard your self with my hands,

We would discourse in the language of stars and moons,

The hearts will beat irregularly and I will embrace your breaths,

The smell of the flowers will be around ,

In our paradise,

To the true lovers every where,

Yours admirer Always,

RAGE OF FOREST FIRE IN UTTARAKHAND:

My name is Tooba Khan from Sindh Madressatul Islam University

Forest fire can be described as an un-controlled and non-prescribed combustion or burning of plants in a natural setting. There are two causes of forest fire, first one can be natural cause and second one can be man-made cause. Many forests fire start from natural causes such as lightning, which set trees on fire and man-made causes starts when fire is caused when a source of fire like naked flame, cigarette or bidi, electric spark or any source of ignition comes into contact with inflammable material.

Uttarakhand has around 38,000 square km of forests, which is almost 71 per cent of its geographical area. Since its formation as a separate state in the year 2000. There were 470 incidents of fire in Uttarakhand’s forests between November 2020 and January 2021, and there were 989 fire incidents in the forests of the state from October 1,2020-April 4, 2021, according to forest department figures. Some 1,297.43 hectares of forest got burned down in the fires, according to the estimates. Uttarakhand has recorded 361 incidents of forest fire that have damaged 567 hectares, including 380 hectares of reserve forest areas. As forest fires rage in different parts of state, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat sought help from Union Home Minister Amit Shah following which the Centre has provided two MI-17 helicopters for fire-fighting, one each deployed in Kumaon, and Garhwal regions. Since 2010, 14 human deaths have occurred in forest fires in the state.Among the four who died this year, two were forest personnel. Seven districts in the state which are Pauri Garhwal, Tehri Garhwal, Dehradun, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Nainital, and Almora — are most vulnerable to forest fires. Over 12,000 forest personnel have been deployed in fire-fighting operations across the state.Every year forest fires begin in Uttarakhand in mid-February, which is the onset of spring when the trees shed dry leaves and the soil loses moisture due to a rise in temperature. The season between winter and monsoon, referred to as the ‘forest fire season’, is now increasing. Climate change and consequently scarce rainfall in the Himalayan regions plays a huge role. This ‘forest fire season’ continues usually till mid-June in the summer. In hilly areas, the surface gets drier faster than plains due to lower accumulation of rainwater. According to experts, three factors cause spread of forest fire, one is fuel load, second is oxygen and third is temperature. Dry leaves are fuel for forest fires and its quantity this time is more than past years. According to an official, due to lockdown there was very less human movement and field activity in the forest fire season like every year when inflammable leaves and woods are collected in forest areas near human habitats. Dry leaves shed from trees in spring remained at the ground and the fuel load increased due to the same natural phenomenon in the year. And one of the main reasons which caused forest fire in Uttarakhand is that it received only 10.9 millimeters of rainfall from January-March 2021 against the usual 54.9 mm, a deficit of nearly 80 per cent. The district of Pauri, which has been most affected by fires, received the least amount of rain, a measly 3.1 mm, against the usual 36.6 mm. The deficit in Pauri has been 92 per cent.A forest official said awareness is the only solution and there should be programs to motivate local people to protect forests from fire because they act as first responder whereas the forest department has limited staff. The official added that reporting and fire management is better in reserve forest areas but facilities and manpower lack in civil areas.

SMOG IN LAHORE

My name is Tooba Khan from Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU)

Lahore, the second-largest and most polluted city in Pakistan, has been plagued by a heavy blanket of smog recently. The ever-growing urbanization and industrialization have contributed to the worsening air quality of the city. Smog, being hazardous to health, is leading to a rapid sprout in multiple health related problems for eg. Ischemic heart disease, stroke, asthma, lung cancer, Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and acute lower respiratory Infections in children, as well as raising concerns about the long-term deleterious effects on public health. Lahore is also facing economical loss because of the smog. Schools are closed because of it , industries are closed, transportation is closed , shortage of attendance in the offices, commercial activities are close and many more other things .The current situation is expected to worsen due to the lack of an active action plan from the government's side and a failure of concerned authorities to take note the urgency of the situation. Hence, government should take action on this issue immediately to avoid further damage.

Thank You.

To look after and solve the problem of FOOD WASTE

Name: ANA TAHIR

This is Ana Tahir from SMI University wanted to focus on the food Wastage internationally. Food waste is food that is not eaten. The causes of food waste are numerous and occur throughout the food system, during production, processing, distribution, retail and food service sales, and consumption.

Food waste and loss occurs at different stages in developing and developed countries; in developing countries, 40% of food waste occurs at the post-harvest and processing levels, while in developed countries, 40% of food waste occurs at the retail and consumer levels.

At the retail level, a shocking amount of food is wasted because of aesthetic reasons; in fact, in the US, more than 50% of all produce thrown away in the US is done so because it is deemed to be “too ugly” to be sold to consumers- this amounts to about 60 million tons of fruits and vegetables. This leads to food insecurity, another one of the biggest environmental problems on the list.

According to research, Pakistan wastes roughly 36 million tones of food, or about 33% of total food production. According to the media, 60 percent of the population is food insecure, and 44 percent of children under the age of five are stunted, according to authorities.

3rd of the food intended for human consumption- around 1.3 billion tons- is wasted. This is enough to feed 3 billion people. Food waste and loss accounts for 4.4 gigatons of greenhouse gas emissions annually; if it was a country, food waste would be the third highest emitter of greenhouse gases, behind China and the US.

1. Reduce. Unnecessary substances should be used sparingly or not at all. To avoid having too many leftovers, cook fewer servings.

2. Reuse. Instead of tossing away food scraps, repurpose them. When purchasing groceries in bulk, use reusable containers.

3. Recycle. Food scraps should be composted.

So, this is the government’s responsibility to solve this problem by these methods and many more methods.

Thank you

Valuable input of Sustainable Development Organization in Health, Education and Pure drinking sector in Azad Jammu and Kashmir

Author: Khurram Jamal Shahid

Sustainable Development Organization is constructing school building across the country to teach, inspire, and empower children by providing them save environment for study. With financial assistance and support of different donors, SDO have given the children of AJK an opportunity to achieve their dreams and ambitions in a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment. As the education is a human right and a force for sustainable development and peace. Its primary goal of SDO to empower vulnerable people with the knowledge, skills and values to live in dignity, build their lives and contribute to their societies.

Keeping the view of worldwide Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), this Organization aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all throughout the country. According the statistics its showed that after the earthquake 2005, 43% Government primary schools are without buildings, 87% schools are deprived with electricity and drinking water while 82% school don’t have facility of electricity. In order support the government of AJK, SDO has constructed 5 School in AJK including washroom and furniture with 710 direct and 6006 indirect beneficiaries.

Every citizen can work with us to help continue to set up schools, provide modern equipment and facilities, including computer rooms and science laboratories, employ teachers and staff and create playful spaces to fortify life-long friendships. More than 1350 schools are still awaited for your kind support.

Moreover, According to the statistic, Globally 529,000 women die annually due to pregnancy related problems and in Pakistan alone this toll is about 35,000 deaths per annum. Moreover, Pakistan Ranks 3rd in the world with highest estimated number of maternal deaths, behind India & Nigeria. Similarly, 65% of births take place in homes and 52% of 65% are home births being attended by Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs).

The state of Azad Jammu & Kashmir has manifold health issues including lack of infrastructure, modern health equipment and qualified and trained medical human resource. The status of maternal and child health is very poor in the remote and mountainous areas of AJK. The maternal mortality ratio (MMR) of AJK ranges from 201 /100,000 live births. This situation is even more critical in the rural remote areas of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK).

To overcome the issue related to mother and child health, Sustainable Development Organization has been established the 24 maternity and child health center to 39,720 vulnerable and remote communities of AJK under its Maternal Child Health Program.

Likewise , AJK with a hilly terrain is engaged with broad service delivery challenges for water and sanitation. As a result thousands of women and children spend several hours a day collecting water from distant, often contaminated sources. Especially women in poor communities have to walk miles to fetch water from rivers and wells which put their security at risk and expose them to vulnerabilities. In AJK 40% population is still deprived from drinking water facility at their door step. Understanding local behavioral and cultural practices relating water, sanitation and hygiene by gender, SDO has been working to help ensure more people in AJK have access to clean and safe water by constructing gravity water supply scheme and providing hand pumps in rural areas.

Moreover, SDO support in improving sanitation and raising awareness on hygiene practices has changed behaviors of communities for healthy lifestyles and value added benefits for persons with disabilities. Keeping the view of water scarcity and aiming to provide pure healthy water to the local community of AJK , SDO has completed 45 Deep wells and two drinking water supply scheme by facilitating of 2,233 household and 17,865 population.

SDO is transforming the lives of thousands of people by providing access to clean, safe water and has identified many communities who are in dire need of your support. We are building wells, and educating communities on the importance of water, sanitation and hygiene.

So far, we have dramatically reduced water-borne disease in thousands of communities, but we still have a long way to go. With your support, we can continue to transform the lives of families, widows and orphans across the AJK.
