SDHSD ADOPTS HYBRID GRADING SYSTEM

After out-cry from pupils and guardians upset over the flip to a payment / no credit from the San-Dieguito union secondary school county, the county board committee on Thurs made a new policy. Previous month after the move was reported the San Dieguito Union High School District crowd held a drive-thru rally at county HQ. Students worried that a credit / no credit scheme will not represent the effort they put in, and also wondered whether their application forms could affect.

On Thurs, Haley and the majority of the school board agreed for a program they think would succeed for everybody: for the spring term, learners would have the choice to select credit/no credit or standard type ratings.

"If you give options for certain learners than those are likely to be the most strongly achieving learners," Haley stated at the online board meeting on Thurs. "Not all domestic learners have the same resources or the equal level of Internet connectivity."

Most higher education institutions have indicated they can allow credit / no credit, but sophomore, learners like La Costa Canyon secondary school, say, "it isn't the same as having a score."

The board is currently hashing out the specifics of the proposed hybrid rating scheme, but at its upcoming meeting is on May Twenty-one it is scheduled to amend it. Learners in middle school must stay on the credit / no credit rating scale.

DUE TO CITY COURT SHUT DOWN AMID OF CORONA VIRUS. SAN DIEGO HEARING STARTED ON THE YOUTUBE LIVE

On Wed, the San Diego magistrate judge started streaming live criminal hearings on YouTube channel to offer online exposure amid the corona virus suspensions linked to the trial.

Through city courtrooms remain shut down to the public till at least May 26, felony prosecutions for convicted people that reside in detention were ongoing.

In a directive published Tues, ruling justice Lorna A. Alksne stated that although social safety issues demand that the judiciary stay locked, streaming live hearings will be authorized "in an attempt to include increased public exposure to legal proceedings compatible with (the judiciary's) 6th Amendment obligations."

Streaming connectivity is only accessible at downtown San Diego judiciary for a limited range of services, with recording only enabled.

The directive from Alksne states the streaming will be in place until May 22, the last day the San Diego judiciary is expected to stay shut to the media.

Judges would have the right to "deny, restrict or cancel, of the whole and in portion, certain transmissions," the injunction specifies.

The request also restricts any audiences from taking photographs, recording, or re-transmitting it without administrative process, a law already in force when government buildings were available to the general public.

Meet the 78 years old High school graduate Ted Sams...

It was a joyfull moment for Ted Sams (78) and his family when he finally walked on stage to receive his high school diploma sixty years after he missed his 1962 graduation because of some teenage mischief and $4.80 (E3.40) overdue library fine he owed at his former school.

During his high school days, Ted and a friend were in a photography class when they were caught by the vice principal for photographing people without their consent and Ted was later suspended, leading to him missing the final exam and graduation. While he tried keeping up with his studies by attending summer school, Ted then found that he couldn't get his diploma because of the overdue library fine book.

“So I just walked away from it and said, 'Forget it',” he says.

In 2022, after much persuasion from his family Ted joined San Gabriel California High school in Los Angeles and got his high school diploma

Sams says he never expected to be back in high school 60 years later after he dropped out. He recounted how he would repeatedly complain to his children how a meagre $4.80 kept him from having a degree.

His daughter Sherry then suprised him by asking San Gabriel High in Los Angeles for a reprint of his diploma so he can attend graduation.

Luckily for him, the school hasn't thrown away the diploma and It was kept in a box, in senior archives.

In 27 May, Ted received an invitation from the school to be part of the graduation ceremony. The ceremony was attended by his wife and five children.

Even though it has been a long hard road, Ted says attaining his diploma has been a great achievement for him and the graduation was one of the highlights of his life.

“Actually, when he walked and got his diploma, every person on that stage hugged him and then the whole class applauded for him,” Sherry says.

Although the $4.80 fine hasn't been paid, Ted is now a graduate of San Gabriel High School's class of 2022.
