Toby Burnham, who works for Captain Joe and Sons, caught a unique blue lobster at Cape Ann off the coast of Gloucester, Massachusetts.

The unusual catch was photographed from different angles and released back to sea. According to Burnham, he saw such an unusual lobster for the first time in his life.

According to scientists, the unusual blue color of lobsters is due to a genetic defect, as a result of which the protein beta-crastacyanin is produced in the body of the crustacean, leading to a color change.
