Is Selling on Amazon FBA Worth It? Beginners Guide
Over2 million sellers are currently leveraging Amazon’s FBA program , without this program we’d have struggled to get our business off the ground. To help you decide whether FBA is right for you, I will be answering this question; Is selling on Amazon FBA worth it?
Enrolling in the FBA program means you get to take advantage of Amazon’s shipping and fulfillment services. FBA sellers also benefit from the Amazon Prime shipping program.
Amazon FBA – The Basics
FBA, or Fulfilment By Amazon, entails sending your merchandise to Amazon for distribution and storage. It is easy; a client places an order, Amazon picks, packs and ships the purchase for you. Among the big plus points is they'll also deal with your refunds and returns -- that alone leaves the charges worth it. Amazon FBA requires out the hassle of fulfilling orders and making sure your goods reach clients securely and in time.
Amazon sellers usually refer to reselling as either online arbitrage, retail arbitrage or wholesaling. These three models are slightly different, but the objective is the same, buy low, sell high. As a private label seller, you’re entirely in charge of your products and your brand, which means your profit margins are usually higher too.
Amazon pays sellers onto a bi-weekly cycle. Amazon calculates your earnings, deducts the mandatory fees, and deposits the money into your bank account.Amazon will book a part of your balance to make sure there aren't any purchase issues.Amazon has multiple satisfaction centers all around the world; this implies clients receive their orders fast, and you've got the chance to scale your company worldwide.Amazon does the heavy lifting whilst you are able to work on developing your organization.
The Cost of Amazon FBA
With Amazon FBA, there are two primary fees to factor into your product pricing; storage, and fulfillment fees.
Amazon Storage Fees:
To keep your merchandise, Amazon charges a monthly fee -- that fee applies no matter whether you create sales or not. The storage fees are contingent on how many cubic feet of storage space your goods need. Fees also vary based on product-size grade in addition to the period of this year. Oversized products are a lot easier to shop. Smaller things, on the other hand, require particular kinds of drawers and shelving, which makes storage more meticulous.
From January to September, standard-size products cost $0.75 per cubic foot, and from October to December, the cost is $2.40 per cubic foot. For oversized products, the cost is $0.48 per cubic foot from January to September and $1.20 per cubic foot from October to December
If you want to sell goods that Amazon class as dangerous, expect to pay anything from $0.78 to $3.63 per cubic foot.Products that are stored by Amazon for more than 365 days attract long-term storage fees. Amazon does this to keep operations as efficient as possible – it encourages sellers to move products faster.
Amazon Fulfillment Fees:
Each time Amazon should select, pack, and send one of your merchandise, they charge a commission based on weight and dimensions.Standard-size non-apparel things have satisfaction fees which range from $2.50 to $5.42. Standard-size apparel items vary from $2.92 to $5.95.Oversized product satisfaction fees vary from $8.26 to $137.32, also for those selling hazardous goods, satisfaction prices vary from $3.85 to $157.12.These costs do tend to fluctuate, so it helps to keep track of changes. This way, you can adjust your prices and still make a profit.
Is Selling on Amazon FBA Worth It?
If you don’t want to manage your fulfillment and distribution network, Amazon FBA is the right program to consider.
Let’s look at some of the plus points of becoming an FBA seller.
- Turn Free Shipping Into a USP
Customers that store on Amazon have come to expect superior deals and extras like free delivery. As an FBA vendor, you can use Amazon's low shipping charges to your benefit. The packaging and shipping prices for goods sold through Amazon are a great deal lower than if you'd like to do it all your self, that makes it a lot simpler to supply free delivery on orders and improve your bottom line.
- Selling Online Becomes Easier Than Ever
Amazon really simplifies the eCommerce procedure. Rather than having to pack goods, fill out address labels, and manage deliveries, Amazon FBA does it all for you. All you have to do is determine what to market, maintain your inventory in stock, and deal with the advertising side of things.Together with Amazon FBA, you have to Concentrate on running and growing your Internet Business Rather than worrying about the daily logistics.
- Returns & Refunds Are Taken Care Of
OK, not having to spend time managing refunds and returns frees up your time for a company proprietor. If a client contacts Amazon, they could organised to go back the merchandise and get a complete refund, without you having to do anything. Having someone to help you with this element of customer support is a lifesaver, especially when you are only getting started. Remember the Amazon's free-returns policy is only pertinent to the client -- you still should pay an returns processing fee.
It’s worth mentioning that you will still have the responsibility of responding the customer messages. If a customer messages you on Amazon, you have 24 hours to respond. When we started, we’d handle this ourselves, but we now have a team of customer service agents ready to assist our customers.
What metrics you should optimize to win the best seller badge
Amazon’s A9 algorithm determines the search ranking of a product. The #1Amazon best seller badge is awarded to the product that has the highest number of sales in a specific category. Besides, Amazon’s A9 algorithm updates the best sellers rank (BSR) every hour.
Although Amazon failed to define the specific metrics affecting the very best seller position, it's apparent that earnings velocity and earnings history play a powerful role in deciding the BSR of an item. Thus, total earnings background is taken into account when standing products within a category or subcategory. Categories like Clothing,'''Electronics,'' and toys and games' are exceptionally aggressive. It's very difficult for vendors to receive the best sellers badge at such classes.
- Create an optimized product listing
- Target the right category
- Maintain competitive pricing
- Concrete advertising strategy
Is Fulfillment by Amazon Right for You?
FBA is one of the best ways to try your hand at online entrepreneurship, but it isn’t for everyone.
For FBA to work, you need to have confidence in the products you sell. In my opinion, Amazon FBA is the perfect place to grow and nurture your very own private label brand.Amazon should be used as a platform to grow your business, but long term, you shouldn’t rely on it entirely. Use Amazon to build a snowball of product sales; you can then use that profit to build your brand away from the Amazon platform.
Amazon is a fantastic platform, but don’t put all of your eggs in one basket. In our training, we talk about the power of growing a brand on and off the Amazon platform. We've leveraged Amazon in this way, and it’s a decision we have not regretted.

Fight against poverty and malnutrition during pandemic
India has footprinted its name and fame in most of the field globally from handling the terror attacks , maintaining the good relationship with the neighbouring countries and other countries also , to legally safegaurding the rights of a citizen and mostly it is the socially and economically weaker sections . More importantly ,while focusing on the poor sections of the society , malnutrition and poverty have taken their seats at the peak. Malnutrition is a condition where children below 5 years of age remain undernourished leading to the child stunting and child wasting which inturn are the causes of the child mortality . Malnutrition affects the chances of survival for children , increases their susceptibility to illness , reduces their ability to learn and thereby makes them less productive in their later life . It is estimated that malnutrition is a contributing factor in about one-third of all the deaths of children In the recent past in september 2019 , 'RASHTRIYA POSHAN MAAH' was observed that urged people to support the governmental nutrition campaign to ensure a healthier future for women and children . There is a target set named 'ZERO HUNGER' to ensure that the world acheives 'zero hunger by 2030'-one of the substantial goals laid out by the United Nations.Although acheiving zero hunger requires not only addressing the hunger but also the associated aspect of Malnutrition i,e,food and nutrition.
This is the time , where whole world is facing the threat and thus struggling for their survival. The change in food patterns , poverty , lack of sanitation and clean drinking water , migration , gender injustice , lacunae at policy level , lax implementation are some of the factors for malnutrition. FAO estimates that 194.4 million people in India are undernourished(14.5% of the total population).India ranks 102 out of 117 countries in the global hunger Index 2019. According to ICMR(Indian Council of Medical Research) malnutrition is the major risk factor for the death in children. Globally , a furthur 6000 under- five children could die each day due to reductions in the routine health coverage during pandemic , the UNICEF has warned in early may , adding that this would be accompanied by the child wasting which is the strong predictor of the child mortality. With lack of food during lockdown the malnutrition rate is going to increase and ultimately childern would be more vulnerable to COVID-19 leading to the high mortality rate in the country . The centres setup by the Integrated Child Development services ,the government programme that provides food , pre- school education , primary health care , immunization to children under 6 years and their mothers. There is provison for 'One Nation one Ration card'technology where the card holder can buy the subsidised food grains from anywhere in India which is actually a good intiative taken up by the centre . The 'ATMANIRBHAR BHARAT' has funded Rs.1.70 lakh crores for the poor to help them fight the battle against COVID-19 which may help them upto certain level to overcome the present worst scenario.
There are certain governmental schemes like NHM,mid-day meal scheme ,Indira Gandhi Matritva Sahayog Yojana , National Nutritional Policy 1993 which can have the multisectoral appraoch towards reducing and gradually eliminate/abridge the malnutrition . Administration should look after the improvements which includes clean and safe drinking water , proper sanitation , reduces the rate of open defecation , improving the women's status and the agricultural productivity , prioritizing the girld child's health becomes necessary , as and when she attains the adolescence and get married and have kids even they will get affected according to the health status of the mother. Hence she should be taken more care such that she should not have been getting affected by malnutrition. In addition to all these provisons , decentralization of powers is necessary where the panchayats should be given the power to have a say in welfare schemes and diversification where Public Distribution System should be diversified to include the millets. Whatever the schemes /and provisons given by the center/and state should reach the doorsteps of the poor/needy ones and the transperancy in the public administartion and through the enactments of RTI , the weaker sections of the society should know their rights and claim for the same in case they have not been met .

Seeking action against Brahmins association members who are making threatening calls
V. Ranganathan, (9047400485)
Priest Trained Student Association - Tamil Nadu,
No.128, Gokulam House, Arasamara Street,
Thiruvannamalai City & Circle,
District Superintendent of Police
Office of the Superintendent of Police,
Venkikal Village & Post,
Subject: Seeking action against Brahmins association members who are making threatening calls
I live at the above address. We joined the priest training course held by the Tamil Nadu government under “All Caste People Can Become Priest Policy” at six training school. Out of 240 persons joined the course, 207 completed it. Madurai Meenakshi Temple priests have filed a case in the Supreme Court against the employing government trained priests in the temples. We formed an association in 2009 to implead in that case and on behalf of our association I was elected as president. I have been the President of the Association for the last 11 years. Our association’s motto was to seek the appointment of all the trained priests in the temples following agama sastras as we believe non-Brahmins can also perform poojas as a priest in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. But Brahmins were preventing the entry of the non-Brahmins, Tamil and Women saying that it would defile the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. The Brahmins are outraged if we demand all those who have completed the proper training, irrespective of caste, become priests in government-controlled temples. Brahmins continue to hold the caste stigma of being superior by birth and others inferior.
That is why we are constantly campaigning on social media like Facebook and WhatsApp to reopen all the caste priest training schools that have been closed down by the government and to appoint trained priests in the big temples. In the meantime, on 01-07-2020, the Government of Tamil Nadu appointed Thiagarajan, one of the trained priest, as a priest in the Siddhi Ganesha Temple, Pudukottai, Nagamalai, Madurai District.
Since then we have been making demands that the government should appoint all the remaining trained students in the temples. We continue to promote it on Facebook and WhatsApp. Some people who can't stand it are constantly intimidating me on the phone. On 24-07-2020 at 8.55 am, a person from the Tamil Nadu Andhanar Sangam spoke on the phone number 9597187410. He asked me many questions and spoke disrespectfully to me.
Then one hour later someone else from phone number 7548815221 called me saying that he was from Brahmins Association. Without saying his name, he said to me “You cannot become a priest in Agama temples. You can be a priest in temples that do not follow agama, no matter what you do you can not even pluck a hair. Be careful.” He threatened, “See what you become.” Then on 26-07-2020 at around 5 pm a person who introduced himself as the former Trichy District Secretary for BJP Migrant Workers Protection spoke to me for more than half an hour from the number 9566626765 in a threatening tone. He asked me to join the poosari association and survive. In this way, I continue to receive death threats as we are seeking an appointment for our students at the temple following Agam rules.
This is not the first time that a Brahmin or at their instigation someone intimidating or attacking.
While we were studying at the Archakar Paadasalai in Thiruvannamalai, the teacher who taught us Agamam was attacked. They negotiated with me when we formed the association. When I did not budge, they attacked me in 2011. Today I am speaking on behalf of all the students in the press and television on the demand that all caste people should become priests.
I am therefore afraid that I may be attacked by Brahmins.
So, sir, I request you to call and interrogate those who are threatening to kill me and to give protection to my life and property.
