Skip Bayless Discredits Lakers Championship - HotNewHipHop
Skip Bayless is already screaming "asterisk."
When the Los Angeles Lakers won the NBA championship last night, NBA fans around the world began to dread what Skip Bayless would say on Undisputed this morning. As everyone knows by now, he is a staunch LeBron James hater while his co-host Shannon Sharpe is a massive LeBron stan. With this in mind, everyone knew this upcoming episode of Undisputed would be a doozy, and for the most part, this turned out to be quite true. As expected, Bayless didn't disappoint as he came out swinging, trying to make the case that the Lakers were gifted a title because they didn't have to play the Los Angeles Clippers. Sharpe made the point that the Clippers' failures aren't the Lakers' fault, but Bayless maintained that LeBron's fourth title will always have an asterisk next to it. "On the inside of the Lakers rings should be a little inscription: *Avoided the Clippers*. You avoided the one team that would've knocked you off! You got to play the longest-odds team to make an NBA Finals, down 2 of its best players.," Bayless attempted to argue. At this point, everyone knows what Bayless' agenda is when it comes to LeBron, so his comments weren't surprising in the least. If the Lakers beat the Clippers in the playoffs next season, maybe then will the Undisputed host finally change his tune.

Colin Kaepernick Reportedly Getting "Zero Interest" From NFL Teams - HotNewHipHop
Colin Kaepernick has struggled to get looks from NFL teams.
Colin Kaepernick's journey over the last four years has been well-documented. After kneeling for the National Anthem as a way to protest racial injustice, Kaepernick was effectively blackballed from the NFL. The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback fought to get himself a job in the league, however, he was never able to do so. Kap even got to host a private workout back in 2019 although it didn't go as planned and no interest was generated from it. Following the death of George Floyd, the NFL apologized for not listening to Kaepernick sooner, with Roger Goodell saying he'd love to see the QB back in the league. At the time, there were reports that teams were interested in Kap but according to ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio, much of this interest was fake. Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images Per Mike Florio: "Per a source with knowledge of the situation, there was some fake interest expressed immediately after Floyds death, seemingly out of guilt. There has been zero interest expressed as to Kaepernick in months." This assessment of the situation is fairly harsh considering Kaepernick has been working hard to stay in shape, should a team hit his line. However, based on this report, it's quite clear that we won't be seeing Kap in the NFL this season. [Via]
Jake Paul Refuses To Stop Throwing Parties During The Pandemic - HotNewHipHop
Jake Paul refuses to stop partying during the pandemic: "I personally am not the type of person who's gonna sit around and not live my life."
Jake Paul says he does not regret throwing multiple parties during the coronavirus pandemic, in recent weeks, despite public criticism. Leon Bennett / Getty Images "I don't know what to think of it, to be honest. I don't think anyone really does," Paul told Insider. "No one has answers, our leadership is failing us, and everyone kind of just doesn't know what to do. But I personally am not the type of person who's gonna sit around and not live my life." Calabasas Mayor Alicia Weintraub has publically criticized Paul for continuing to throw parties: “They’re having this large party, no social distancing, no masks, it’s just a big, huge disregard for everything that everybody is trying to do to get things back to functioning,” he told Fox 11. “It’s really just a party acting like COVID does not exist; it’s acting like businesses aren’t closed.” "I'm a human being," Paul said of the criticism. "I put my pants on the same way, I cry the same way, I have anxiety the same way, I fail the same way, I win the same way. People don't like that, they scream out my failures and whisper my accomplishments." Several of Paul's neighbors have expressed annoyance about Paul's gatherings. [Via]

The 1975 Singer Deactivates Twitter After Using Black Lives Matter To Promote Song - HotNewHipHop
Matt Healy, the lead singer of pop rock band, The 1975, hopped off Twitter after he got roasted for using Black Lives Matter to promote his song.
Matt Healy, the lead singer of British pop rock band, The 1975, has come under fire for a recent exploitative tweet regarding the Black Lives Matter movement. As protests against the police killing of George Floyd persist across the country, many have spoken out on the issues of police brutality and racism against Black people. Matt was among those people to voice their opinions, but he may have gone about it the wrong way. Kevin Winter/Getty Images for Coachella On Thursday (May 28th), Matt posted a tweet that read, "If you truly believe that ‘ALL LIVES MATTER’ you need to stop facilitating the end of black ones." While this sentiment did not spark outrage, the rest of the tweet certainly did. Matt proceeded to link the music video to his band's song, "Love It If We Made It." Many accused him of acting tasteless by co-opting an important movement to promote his own 2-year-old song. He later deleted the tweet amid backlash, but reposted the link to the song once again in a new tweet that reportedly read: "Sorry I did not link my song in that tweet to make it about me it’s just that the song is literally about this disgusting situation and speaks more eloquently than I can on Twitter." Some of the lyrics in the song that he might have been referring to include the following: "We’re f*cking in a car, shooting heroin/Saying controversial things just for the hell of it/Selling melanin and then suffocate the black men/Start with misdemeanors and we’ll make a business out of them." Soon after posting this more recent tweet, he deactivated his account altogether. He began trending on Twitter as users expressed how appalled they were by his actions. [Via]
Vanessa Bryant Shares Powerful Kobe Photo In Support Of George Floyd - HotNewHipHop
Vanessa Bryant had a powerful message about life in light of the recent protests.
Police brutality in the United States has always been a massive problem. Numerous unarmed people of color have been killed by the police, including George Floyd who was choked to death in Minneapolis this past week. Protests have erupted all across the country and people are waiting to see how this will all play out. Needless to say, people are scared and angry and with the Coronavirus going around, life feels incredibly fragile. When Eric Garner was killed by police a few years ago, many NBA players wore "I Can't Breathe" shirts in solidarity, including Kobe Bryant. Today, Vanessa Bryant took to Instagram with a photo of Kobe wearing the shirt and urged people to take care of each other while also standing up against injustice. "My husband wore this shirt years ago and yet here we are again," Bryant wrote. "Life is so fragile. Life is so unpredictable. Life is too short. Let’s share and embrace the beautiful qualities and similarities we all share as people. Drive out hate. Teach respect and love for all at home and school. Spread LOVE. Fight for change- register to VOTE. Do not use innocent lives lost as an excuse to loot. BE AN EXAMPLE OF THE CHANGE WE WANT TO SEE." Bryant's post is a stark reminder of the loss of Kobe and what a leader he would have been during these times. Regardless, it's good to know one of the best basketball players ever had the back of his people.

Carnival Cruise Sales Soar Following August Return Announcement - HotNewHipHop
Carnival Cruises see a 600% increase in sales after the company announces a goal to reopen operations.
Carnival Cruises are scheduled to resume on August 1, and customers seem to have no fears about returning to the ships. Ticket sales have shot up 600 percent in three days since going on-sale. Joe Raedle / Getty Images Representative from Cruise Planners told TMZ the cruise line is "not a bit concerned about traveling at this time." "We are taking a measured approach, focusing on the potential for sailing from a select number of homeports where we have more significant operations that are easily accessible by car for the majority of our guests," Carnival said in a press release last week. The return date of August 1 is not set in stone. The company explained that there is no guarantee services will resume at that time, it is only a tentative estimate: "We continue to work with various government agencies, including the CDC, as we introduce new onboard protocols, but there is no assurance of a return on August 1." The Diamond Princess cruise ship was infamous at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic for being quarantined and suffering 712 confirmed cases and 14 deaths. The CDC has recommended cruise lines "defer all cruise ship travel worldwide." You can book a trip through Carnival Cruise for yourself here. [Via]
