Elon Musk threatens to PULL TESLA OUT of California as officials keep factory shut due to Covid-19 - Smash Newz
Billionaire Elon Musk has vowed to sue local authorities “immediately” after his Tesla electric car factory wasn’t allowed reopen due to Covid-19 restrictions, and has warned he’s considering pulling out of California altogether.
Musk took to Twitter on Saturday to vent his anger over the decision of Alameda County to keep his business shut. While Tesla was expected to resume “limited operations” on Friday, it was not allowed to actually do so. Also on rt.comElon Musk says human language will be OBSOLETE in 10 years, after struggling to pronounce his babys name on Joe Rogan“Tesla is filing a lawsuit against Alameda County immediately. The unelected & ignorant “Interim Health Officer” of Alameda is acting contrary to the Governor, the President, our Constitutional freedoms & just plain common sense!” Musk tweeted. Frankly, this is the final straw. Tesla will now move its HQ and future programs to Texas/Nevada immediately. If we even retain Fremont manufacturing activity at all, it will be dependen on how Tesla is treated in the future. Tesla is the last carmaker left in CA. — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 9, 2020 The entrepreneur also threatened to move the plant out of California altogether, stating that his company was the “last carmaker” in the golden state. The company’s HQ is already set to move either to Texas or Nevada, according to Musk. Elon Musk has been a staunch opponent of the coronavirus-stalling rules across the US, arguing that the measures rolled out against the pandemic are going against Americans’ “freedom.” The US remains the worst coronavirus-affected nation, with over 1.3 million registered cases of the disease and nearly 80,000 resultant deaths. Globally, the deadly disease has killed more than 270,000 people, with some four million confirmed as infected. ‘Death by meteorite’: Turkish researchers claim to have proof of world’s first space-rock fatality - RT
A group of researchers in Turkey are claiming to have come across the first credible records yet discovered of ‘death by meteorite,’ dating from August 22, 1888.
They cite multiple official documents recovered from the General Directorate of State Archives of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, which detail a meteorite strike that hit and killed one man and paralyzed another, in what is now Sulaymaniyah in Iraq. The Earth endures near-constant bombardment by assorted meteorites and space rocks, at a rate of millions per day, most of which burn up harmlessly in our atmosphere. For context, and according to NASA records, since 1988 at least 822 such space rocks were big enough to break through our natural atmospheric defenses and explode in our skies, raining down meteorites like a cluster bomb, shredding everything unfortunate to be in its debris field. In this newly discovered case, two unsuspecting men. While there is no actual rock to verify the 1888 reports, the supporting documents, only recently translated from the Ottoman Turkish language and added to a digital archive, make a strong case, the researchers argue. The reports indicate that a large fireball was seen in the sky at approximately 8:30pm on August 10 on the Julian calendar (August 22 on the Gregorian). Soon after, meteorites reportedly “fell like rain” for roughly ten minutes, bombarding an entire village from space, killing one man and paralyzing another in the process. The reports also contained details of significant crop damage, consistent with a fireball shockwave. “This event is the first report ever that states a meteor impact killed a man [..] with the support of three written manuscripts that report an event in such detail as far as we know,” the researchers wrote in their paper. Also on rt.comMeteorite illuminates skies over northern Russia with mysterious blue light (VIDEO)Despite the overwhelming number of meteorites that hit Earth on a daily basis, there have apparently not, until now, potentially, been any direct casualty reports of meteorite fatalities. For instance, while the 2013 Chelyabinsk meteorite caused significant damage and injury with its shockwave, it didn't actually kill anyone, despite the fact that certain chunks of the space rock's shrapnel weighed up to an astounding 654 kg (1,442lbs). Meanwhile, a woman named Ann Hodges was struck directly on the hip by a meteorite while napping on her couch at her home in Alabama in 1954 and, while the rock was retrieved and found to be from out of this world, her injuries were non-fatal. Facebook quietly stops letting advertisers target PSEUDOSCIENCE fans after years of boasting ‘misinformation fighting’ role - RT
Having claimed to be a crusader against misinformation during the coronavirus pandemic, Facebook has only just removed the ability for advertisers to target users “interested in pseudoscience,” journalists have discovered.
The social media behemoth finally removed the “pseudoscience” category from its advertising platform on Wednesday, several days after investigators at The Markup first confronted it. They questioned the inconsistency between Facebook declaring war on misinformation and offering advertisers the ability to target 78 million people apparently interested in it. This gulf between Facebook’s stated mission and its actual business model was especially glaring in light of a recent post by CEO Mark Zuckerberg boasting of how his platform had slapped warnings on upwards of 40 million Covid-19-related posts, deterring some 95 percent of would-be viewers from clicking through to the original content. “Through this crisis, one of my top priorities is making sure that you see accurate and authoritative information across all of our apps,” Zuckerberg wrote in the post. Oops? It’s not clear what Facebook categorizes as “pseudoscience,” or what a user had to do to end up with that particular scarlet letter of gullibility on their advertising profile. Also on rt.comFacebook CENSORS anti-quarantine protests in US as harmful misinformationAn ad for a radiation-blocking knit beanie, which one might consider the 21st-century stylish equivalent of the conspiracy-pejorative “tinfoil hat,” was shown to the Markup journalist based on his (Facebook-determined) interest in “pseudoscience.” But when the outlet contacted the advertiser, it insisted they hadn’t selected the category. If true, that would imply Facebook actually made the connection between the product and the audience independently, rendering them even more complicit in spreading the same misinformation they claim to be fighting. Facebook has wandered in over its head with targeted advertising in the past. Last year, the platform was discovered to be offering advertisers the ability to target users interested in Josef Goebbels, Josef Mengele, and other Nazis and Nazi-adjacent entities – even after a previous scandal had elicited Facebook’s reassurance that humans signed off on all ad-targeting categories. The platform had removed 5,000 categories the previous year after ProPublica found phrases like “Jew hater” and “Hitler did nothing wrong” among the many innocuous hobbies and celebrity interests. Also on rt.comFacebook allows advertisers to target Nazi fans, despite promises of system review by humansAt the same time Facebook was allowing advertisers to hunt for misinformation-susceptible types, Zuckerberg was bragging about removing anti-lockdown protests from the platform, sliming those trying to organize demonstrations to reopen their states or countries as purveyors of “harmful misinformation.” The platform has also adopted a new policy of confronting users who share articles it deems to be misinformation with an information box on their News Feed, encouraging them to visit the website of the World Health Organization. The wrongthink-shaming move came on the heels of an attack by online activist group Avaaz, which called Facebook an “epicenter of coronavirus misinformation,” claiming over 100 “fake news” items about coronavirus had been shared over 1.7 million times. Moon’s geology revealed in greater detail than ever before in first all-inclusive map (PHOTOS, VIDEO) - RT
For the first time in history, the entire lunar surface has been mapped and the geology classified, paving the way for safer future Moon landings and reminding us to look upwards once more.
Scientists from the USGS Astrogeology Science Center, in collaboration with NASA and the Lunar and Planetary Institute, have produced the ‘Unified Geologic Map of the Moon,’ at 1:5,000,000 scale, marking the culmination of decades of work. “People have always been fascinated by the Moon and when we might return,” said current USGS director and former NASA astronaut Jim Reilly. “So, it’s wonderful to see USGS create a resource that can help NASA with their planning for future missions.” Also on rt.com'Aggressive expropriation attempt': Russia blasts Trump's order declaring space up for grabs by AmericansThe seamless and therefore painstaking merger of old and new data allowed USGS researchers to produce a unified description of the rock layers on the Moon, with different colors marking distinct geological eras – for example, pink denotes the Imbrian era. This dominates the lunar surface, marking the time during which the Moon was bombarded by asteroids from outer space. NASA is currently preparing for new missions to the Moon. These will take place by 2024 and likely include the first female astronaut to walk on its surface. Meanwhile, the Russian Space Research Institute is creating the first-ever topographic three-dimensional map of the Moon to help reconnoiter future Roscosmos lunar mission landing sites.
