Adele gives update on new album during hosting debut on ‘Saturday Night Live’ - NME
Adele has given an update on her upcoming new album during her debut as a host on Saturday Night Live last night.
Adele has given an update on her new album during her debut as a host on Saturday Night Live. During her opening monologue on the show, Adele explained why she was featuring as the show’s host and not the musical guest, a role that was last night (October 24) assumed by H.E.R instead. Adele told the audience: My albums not finished, and Im also too scared to be both.” She added: Id rather put on some wigs have a glass of wine or six and just see what happens. Adele addressed her previous appearances on SNL in 2008 and 2015 and credited the former with launching her career in the US. “[It was] the show that broke my career here in America, twelve very long years ago” Adele said. “See I was the musical guest back in 2008 when Sarah Palin came on with Miss Tina Fey and so obviously a few million people tuned in to watch it and now the rest is history.” You can watch the full monologue here: Elsewhere in the show, Adele played a medley of songs during one of the show’s sketches – a tongue-in-cheek take on The Bachelor. Adele performed ‘When We Were Young’, ‘Hello’ and ‘Rolling In The Deep’ during the skit which you can below: Its been almost five years since Adele broke records with her last album, 25, and there have been many red herrings as to when the follow-up is actually being released. In February, she was filmed telling the audience at a friends wedding to expect my album in September. However, in June that was shot down after her manager confirmed new material would not be released then. In August, she responded to a fans question on Instagram asking when the album would drop, to which she said I honestly have no idea.” It’s reported that Adele is working with producer Raphael Saadiq on the album, in addition to John Legend.

The Guardians of the Galaxy star was the subject of a Twitter poll, asking which Chris out of Pratt, Pine, Evans and Hemsworth should be removed from Hollywood. He has now been defended by his co-stars, with Robert Downey Jr urging his detractors to delete their social media accounts. ‘No Time To Die’ producers poured 8,400 gallons of Coca-Cola on Italian street for James Bond stunt - NME
The producers of 'No Time To Die' used 8,400 gallons of Coca-Cola to make a cobbled street less slippery for a James Bond motorbike stunt.
The producers of No Time To Die have revealed they used 8,400 gallons of Coca-Cola to make a cobbled street less slippery for a James Bond motorbike stunt. According to stunt boss Lee Morrison, Daniel Craig devised the trick allowing his stunt double rider Paul Edwards to hit a 25ft ramp at 60mph, clear a wall and land on cobbles. The film crew spent £55,000 on the sugary soft drink that, once dried, left a sticky residue on the stones. “I spent nearly 60,000 spraying Coca-Cola around Matera,” Morrison told Total Film this month. “I’ve been spraying Coca-Cola on slippery surfaces for a very long time.” He added that the drink also “makes things look very clean after it washes off”. CREDIT: Wieslaw Jarek / Alamy Stock Photo No Time To Die is due to hit cinemas in April next year after being delayed twice by the coronavirus pandemic. It’s thought the film will be Craig’s final Bond instalment. Craig has defended Warner Bros’ decision to postpone the film again, saying: This thing is just bigger than all of us. We just want people to go and see this movie in the right way, in a safe way. The actor added: Cinemas all around the world are closed at the moment. We want to release the movie at the same time all around the world and this isnt the right time. So fingers crossed, 2 April is going to be our day. The decision to delay No Time To Die earlier this month was considered a major blow for cinemas around the world, with the Cineworld chain announcing soon after that it would be closing all of its cinemas in the UK and the US.
Paul McCartney reflects on reconciling with John Lennon before his death: “It was so lovely” - NME
Paul McCartney has recalled how he reconciled with his late Beatles bandmate John Lennon before the latter's death
Paul McCartney has spoken of his relief of managing to reconcile with John Lennon before his Beatles bandmate was shot dead in 1980. Speaking to Lennon’s son Sean for a new BBC Radio 2 documentary to mark what would have been the late singer’s 80th birthday, McCartney recalled how the pair fell out when the Beatles split in 1970. Despite their feud, they are believed to have reconciled before John was shot dead by Mark Chapman in New York in December 1980. McCartney told Sean: “I always say to people, one of the great things for me was that after all The Beatles rubbish and all the arguing and the business, you know, business differences really… that even after all of that, I’m so happy that I got it back together with your dad. “It really, really would have been a heartache to me if we hadn’t have reunited. It was so lovely too that we did, and it really gives me sort of strength to know that.” Paul McCartney (Picture: Getty) McCartney also opened up on how the pair established one of the most acclaimed songwriting partnerships in history, but admitted that it wasn’t as successful in the band’s early days. There were a few songs that werent very good, McCartney said. “There were a few that were clearly [by] young songwriters who dont quite know how to do it. There was one called ‘Just Fun’.” He added that he still thinks of Lennon while writing, despite his death 40 years ago. “Im writing something and I go: Oh god, this is bloody awful. And I think: ‘What would John say?'” he said. “And you go: Yeah, youre right. Its bloody awful. Youve got to change it.’ “And so Ill change it, and I know from reports that he did similar things to that. If Id have a record out, hed go: ‘Bloody hell got to go in the studio. Got to try and do better than Paul.'” Meanwhile, Lennons glasses and a detention sheet from when the late Beatle was in school have gone up for auction, marking 50 years since their split.

R. Kelly requests prison release on bail as attacker confesses - NME
The prison inmate who attacked R. Kelly has confessed, leading the singer to request a release from prison on bail.
R. Kelly is requesting to be released from prison on bail after a fellow inmate confessed to attacking him last month. Last month, it was reported that Kelly was attacked in prison, with the singer’s lawyer saying: “Another inmate that had an issue with lockdown, got upset and simply attacked Robert.” Inmate Jeremiah Farmer, who is housed along with Kelly at the Metropolitan Correctional Centre in Chicago, has now filed a motion via Kelly’s lawyers, titled ‘The Government Made Me Attack R-Kelly’, as Billboard reports. In the motion, Farmer says he was “forced” to attack Kelly “in hopes of getting spotlight attention and world news notice to shed light on the government corruption” regarding his own ongoing criminal case. Speaking of his wish to get Kelly released on bail, the singer’s lawyer, Douglas C. Anton, said: “It is cruel and unusual. He is innocent until proven guilty. I have an innocent guy in jail that can’t get out of jail so we can get prepared for trial.” R Kelly. Credit: Getty Kelly was first taken into custody in early 2019 on 10 charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. He was later arrested again in July that year, being indicted on 13 charges by federal officers. The singer’s lawyers first filed a motion for him to be released on bail from prison in April due to concerns he would catch coronavirus in prison, but the appeal was rejected, even after he launched a second separate bail appeal that same month. In May, Kelly pleaded not guilty in New York to counts of sex trafficking and new allegations of abuse from an anonymous victim. He is also facing charges in Illinois, the state in which he is currently imprisoned, as well as Minnesota. The ‘I Believe I Can Fly’ singer was due to stand trial in New York City in July for charges of racketeering and sex trafficking, but the hearing was pushed back until September 29 due to coronavirus concerns. R. Kelly has always maintained that he is not guilty in regards to the accusations made against him.
