MagSafe Charger found to work on Galaxy Z Fold2, Pixel 5 - GSMArena.com news - GSMArena.com
The Galaxy Z Fold2 and Pixel 5 both attach and work well enough with Apple's new wireless charger.
Arguably the most attention-grabbing addition of the iPhone 12 series (apart from 5G) is the new MagSafe accessory ecosystem. The premise is simple all new iPhones have a magnetic ring around the wireless charging coil on their backs, which can snap to a range of accessories from wallets to mounts and wireless charging pads. The MagSafe charger is Apples first foray into wireless charging for iPhone after the whole AirPower fiasco but now it was found to be working just fine on some non-Apple phones. Granted the MagSafe charger works on the Qi interface so any device that supports the standard will get juice from it. Its currently the only way to get 15W speeds through wireless charging on iPhones but now we get to see it actually attaches to other magnet-touting phones as well. Max Weinbach tested out a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 which has its own set of magnets to help it stay closed and it worked just fine. MagSafe magnetically connects and charges the Fold2 lol pic.twitter.com/sQ0L9pk4kN Max Weinbach (@MaxWinebach) October 19, 2020 He shared the foldable managed to stay attached to the new MagSafe charger just fine though the charger could snap away if you shook it around with some force. We also did not get any details on the actual charging speeds though we presume they will stick to 7.5W as only iPhone 12 units are advertised to reach 15W speeds. The new Google Pixel 5 was also tested with MagSafe charger on video and managed to hold on quite well. Aaron Zollo aka zollotech tested out Googles 2020 flagship with Apples new charger and its snapped in place quite well. We know Google engineered a plastic circular opening in Pixel 5's aluminum casing specifically for wireless charging which should be the reason why it managed to work so well. We'll be on the lookout to see what other phones play nice with the MagSafe charger. Via 1Via 2
65" rollable TV LG Signature OLED R is now available for $87,000 - GSMArena.com news - GSMArena.com
It's a one of a kind TV and it has the price to match. It does have unique features and it is a luxury good as much as it is tech gadget.
First showcased back in 2018, LGs rollable OLED TV missed its targeted 2019 launch, but starting today units are available in several major retail stores in South Korea for people to gawk at. You could even buy one, though only if you have KRW 100,000,000 thats around $87,000 or 74,000. The LG Signature OLED R is unique in that the 65 OLED display can roll up and completely disappear into its aluminum base. This actually allows it to operate with several different screen sizes: full view gives you all 65 inches, Line view exposes just the top part of the screen and Zero view keeps the screen completely hidden. This is so you can use the powerful sound system with 4.2 channel speakers totaling 100W output power. You can connect to it as a Bluetooth speaker and Zero view mode avoids running the OLED unnecessarily. Line mode enables 5 views: Music, Clock, Frame, Mood and Home Dashboard. The LG Signature OLED R TV is manufactured at the companys Gumi TV plant in Gyeongbuk. There master craftsmen actually do some of the work by hand as this is positioned as a luxury good. LG Signature OLED TV R Danish textile company Kvadrat provides the fabric that covers the speakers and is available in Signature Black, Moon Gray, Topaz Blue and Toffee Brown. The base itself is made out of aluminum and you can have it inscribed if you want. LG Signature OLED R TV in: Signature Black Moon Gray Topaz Blue Toffee Brown If you buy the TV, LG will provide you with 3 years of extended service, which includes sending technicians twice a year to inspect the TV and ensure its in top shape. LG can also send its team to help with the installation of the TV. Source (in Korean)
iPhone 12 series doesn't support 5G in dual SIM mode - GSMArena.com news - GSMArena.com
You'll have to choose between 5G on one SIM or dual SIM functionality at 4G LTE speeds.
A leaked listing on Apples Sales Web (ASW) page, which provides detailed information on all of Cupertinos products, revealed an important detail on the new iPhone 12 series 5G connectivity. You wont be able to use dual SIMs while on 5G. You can either have your regular SIM card and eSIM working at up to 4G LTE speeds or use one of them on 5G. Dual SIM connectivity will automatically drop new iPhones to 4G speeds. iPhone 12 FAQ on ASW website The discovery was shared on r/verizon by user ctthrow1 who managed to get hold of the FAQ document meant for retailers and carriers. It clearly states: When using two lines in Dual SIM mode, 5G data isnt supported on either line and will fall back to 4G LTE. If customers are using eSIM only and are on a 5G-supported carrier and service plan, they'll have 5G access. According to speculation, Apple will address this via software update before the years end though it remains to be seen if that will indeed be the case. Via

Kuo: iPhone 12 and 12 Pro pre-orders total 7-9 million, with 2 million ordered on the first day - GSMArena.com news - GSMArena.com
For comparison, all three iPhone 11 models managed 10-12 million pre-orders during launch week last year.
Pre-orders for the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro went live this Friday and famed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from TF Securities estimates that the two models saw between 7 and 9 million pre-orders in total before the weekend was over. To put that in perspective, Apples estimates show that the entire iPhone 11 line-up brought in 10-12 million pre-orders during launch week last year. The 2019 models moved 500,000 to 800,000 units in the first 24 hours while just the two iPhone 12 models hit an estimated 1.7 to 2 million units in the same time frame. Kuo notes that the pre-orders for the iPhone 12 Pro beat analysts expectations as Apples core user base prefers high-end models, but also because theres strong demand in China, the US and Europe. The analyst expects the iPhone 12 Pro Max and 12 mini to sell in more moderate quantities, but still the four models combined will make for a stellar year for Apple. Kuos forecast suggests that the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro will each account for 30-35% of the total 12-series shipments. Of the other two, the Pro Max will be slightly more popular (15-20%) than the mini (10-15%). Early expectations were for the mini to play a bigger role in shipments, but low demand from China for the smallest model may have reduced its share. Via
Specifications of Micromax's "in" series smartphones surface - GSMArena.com news - GSMArena.com
They are rumored to arrive in the first week of November.
Micromax yesterday announced it will return to the smartphone market with the new "in" series of handsets, without divulging any details about them. A new report today claims the "in" series will include two models to start with (or three, depending on how you look at it) - one powered by the Helio G85 chipset, the other (or more like the other two) - by the Helio G35. They will be priced between INR7,000 ($95/80) and 15,000 ($205/175). There's no info about the G85 model, but there is some about the G35 one. It will run stock Android, pack a 5,000 mAh battery, and have two memory configurations - 2GB/32GB and 3GB/32GB. However, both variants will have different camera combinations and that's where the confusion about the number of models stems from - are the two the same model if they have different cameras? The 2GB RAM model will have a total of three cameras onboard - an 8MP selfie shooter on the front, with a 13MP primary camera on the back joined by a 2MP unit. The 3GB RAM variant, on the other hand, will feature a total of four cameras - a 13MP camera on the front and a triple camera setup on the back consisting of 13MP, 5MP and 2MP modules. The names of these "in" series smartphones are not yet known, and Micromax hasn't announced when they will arrive, but the source claims these will be launched in the first week of November. Source

The Xbox Series X is priced at INR 49,990 while the smaller Xbox Series S is priced at INR 34,990. Belkin releases MagSafe-compatible 3-in-1 wireless charger and car vent mount - GSMArena.com news - GSMArena.com
The 3-in-1 charger tops up your battery at 15W and can even hold the iPhone horizontally so you can watch video while it charges.
Predictably, mobile accessory makers jumped on the MagSafe bandwagon to offer a variety of products that use Apples new wireless charging magnetic attachment system. Belkin already has a few interesting designs that will be available soon. First up is a MagSafe version of its 3-in-1 charging station. This one leverages the magnets to hold up an iPhone 12. An Apple Watch is held magnetically as well, only the AirPod case is loosely placed over the wireless charging coil. The magnets are apparently strong enough to hold the phone in place even as you swipe across the screen. You can also place the phone horizontally so you can watch a video while it charges. The Belkin MagSafe 3-in-1 Wireless Charger for iPhone 12 (available in White and Black) This MagSafe 3-in-1 Wireless Charger can power up your iPhone at the 15W supported by the new system, double the power of the base Qi charging system and almost as fast as the 20W wired charger. Then theres the MagSafe Car Vent Mount Pro. Note that this is indeed a mount and not a charger, if you want to charge your phone youll have to connect a cable into the Lightnight port. Again, the magnets are quite strong and can even absorb the shocks from a bumpy road. You can adjust the angle of the phone thanks to a ball joint and even rotate it horizontally. Belkin MagSafe car vent mount for iPhone 12 The MagSafe 3-in-1 Wireless Charger will go for $150 while the Car Vent Mount will be $40. Both will become available this Winter. Belkin naturally has a number of chargers with a USB-C port, the kind youll need with your new iPhone 12, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max and 12 mini. And do need one as Apple no longer includes a power brick in the retail package (the iPhone 11, new SE and XR also lose the charger and EarPods). While the new Ceramic Shield is four times more resistant to drops, you may still want a screen protector. The Belkin UltraGlass is made out of German-engineered lithium aluminosilicate glass and is twice as strong as tempered glass typically used in screen protectors. Belkin UltraGlass screen protector for iPhone 12 Privacy version These have a Privacy version too, which makes the screen appear black unless youre looking at it head on. However, if you hold the phone horizontally, the display becomes visible from all angles (heres a demo). Source | Via
OnePlus 8T undergoes durability test - GSMArena.com news - GSMArena.com
It's only been announced hours ago, but it's already faced scratches, burns, and the infamous bend test.
OnePlus made the new 8T official earlier today, and Zack from the JerryRigEverything YouTube channel has already put it through the paces of his trademark durability test. As usual, this entails some scratching, burning, and the ever so infamous bend test. If you're interested in how it's fared, have a look. Unsurprisingly, scratch-wise we're looking at a level six on the Mohs hardness scale, with deeper grooves at level seven. Par for the course when it comes to Gorilla Glass. The sides are metal, as are the buttons, while the speaker grille up top is plastic, glued into place. The burn test killed some pixels after 30 seconds or so. Structurally, the 8T is sound. There's some flex to the frame and slight separation to the back glass panel, but nothing pops or shatters, so this one's a survivor. If you're intrigued by the OnePlus 8T, check out our comprehensive hands-on review of the phone.
