Pickup Design’s Mercedes-Benz X-Class Is As Sumptuous As It Gets - CarScoops
The tuner has fittingly dubbed this Mercedes-Benz X-Class the Yachting Edition.
The Mercedes-Benz X-Class you see might just be the most intriguing looking example we’ve ever seen. It comes from Pickup Design, the truck-focused division of Carlex Design, and has received a multitude of exterior and interior modifications. The first thing you notice is the two-tone paint scheme. The X-Classs body has been painted in gloss white, apart from the upper portion of the body which sports a shade of brown. A host of other brown accents are visible across the exterior, including a strip along the doors that denotes the vehicle as the Yachting Edition. At the rear, Pickup Design has clad the bed in high-end wood. While the wood would be more prone to damage than the trucks regular bed liner, we doubt the cars owner will ever actually load something into the back. For starters, the tuner has applied wooden accents on the dashboard and steering wheel. Next, elements such as the seat bolsters, shift knob, handbrake, center console, and parts of the door panels have been clad in brown leather. Other surfaces, like the upper door trims, upper dashboard, and the steering wheel grips are clad in brown Alcantara. Rounding out the interior changes are custom seats with black Alcantara center sections and wooden floor mats both up front and in the second row. These modifications might not be the most practical for a tradesman that could use the X-Class for work, but it is definitely one way to attract attention at the worksite. PHOTO GALLERY
This 1997 Toyota Supra Mk4 Will Cost You Nearly Twice As Much As A New Supra Mk5 - Carscoops
The 1997 Toyota Supra with its twin-turbo straight-six is listed for $93,000.
Prices for pristine Mk4 Toyota Supra models have been on the rise in recent years and a great example located in Nashville has just come across our radar. This particular Supra is a 1997 model and is paired to the iconic and desirable 3.0-liter 2JZ-GTE inline-six engine with a pair of twin turbochargers from the factory. The turbos used by the Supra activate sequentially meaning all of the boost is initially directed to just one of them under 3,000 rpm. After that mark, the second turbo comes to life. Read Also: Toyota To Reproduce And Sell Parts For A70 And A80 Supra Mated to the engine is a six-speed manual transmission that drives the rear wheels. In its heyday, the car could hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in less than 5 seconds and this one probably performs just as well as it did when it was new. The exterior is bathed in Renaissance Red paint and being a Limited Edition 15th Anniversary model, the car comes with distinctive badging on the front fenders. Inside, there are black leather seats while at the rear there is a bench seat. The Mk4s iconic jet-fighter style instrument cluster and center console have been well maintained and the odometer reads just 36,477 miles (58,704 km). Despite the cars age and its driver-focused nature, it does come with an AM/FM/Cassette/CD stereo as well as air conditioning, cruise control, power door locks, and power windows. The car is sitting on its original 17-inch wheels with 235/45 front and 255/40 rear Kumho performance tires. With an asking price of $92,995 over at Streetside Classics, this Supra isnt cheap but considering that prices will likely continue to rise, it could prove to be a good buy even if it costs nearly twice as much as the base 2021 Supra Mk5 with the inline-six turbo (from $50,990). 2022 Ford Ranger Raptor To Get A 400 HP Twin-Turbo V6? - CarScoops
The new Ford Ranger Raptor might allegedly use the Explorer ST's engine.
Ford is hard at work developing the next-generation Ranger and it has emerged that the range-topping Raptor could be quite a weapon. The current Ranger Raptor, introduced in 2018, has proven very popular despite being powered by a 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel four-cylinder engine with relatively little power and a towing capacity of just 2,500 kg (5,511 lbs). A new report claims that Ford will answer the call of enthusiasts wanting more power with two different engine options depending on the market. A report from Car Advice claims that the next-generation Ranger Raptor will be outfitted with the same twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 petrol engine and 10-speed automatic transmission as the Ford Explorer ST, rated at 400 hp and 415 lb-ft (562 Nm) of torque. That will be more than enough power for the Ranger, but not quite enough to step on the toes of the Ford F-150 Raptors 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 which has 450 hp and 509 lb-ft (690 Nm). Read Also: Australias Tickford Says It Could Lift Ford Ranger Raptor V8 Up To 719 HP Interestingly, there is no guarantee that all markets will receive this engine, as the 2022 Ranger Raptor may also be made available with Fords 3.0-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel V6 with 248 hp and 442 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque and also mated to a 10-speed transmission. Beyond the two available engines, the 2022 Ranger Raptor will include custom Fox shocks, off-road tires, enlarged brakes and a wider track to enhance its off-roading abilities. It will also benefit from other upgrades found across the rest of the updated Ranger family, including new safety features and a more upmarket interior with larger digital displays.
2022 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Prototype Spied With Aggressive Wing, Covered Wheels - CarScoops
Could the C8 Corvette Z06 feature carbon fiber wheels as the rumor mill claims?.
The all-new Corvette Z06 is the next model variant of the mid-engined sports car Chevrolet will bring to market and weve got the best look at it so far. The prototype spotted by our photographers may be fully wrapped in camouflage but there are some elements that indicate it is not a regular 2020 Corvette Stingray. Those include the huge rear wing which reminds of the C7 Corvette ZR1s wing but is raised towards each side. The latest intel suggests the Z06 might get active aerodynamics, which would make a large fixed rear wing unnecessary. Still, other rumors claim the active aero system could be part of a special Z07 package. See Also: GM Says They Cant Fill All The 2020 Corvette Orders We can also spot a massive wheel / tire package as well, despite the fact that even the rims are covered in camouflaged discs – possibly hiding the fact these are carbon fiber wheels. Still, the covers can’t hide the fact that the front axle features 20-inch wheels wrapped with Michelin Sport Cup 2 R tires. The tire size appears to be 275/30 ZR20, which is generous for a front wheel. More importantly, this matches rumors that have circulated on the internet for a while. As for the rear tires, they are also Michelin Sport Cup 2 Rs but their size cannot be discerned in these photos. Mind you, the rear tires do look larger, which would indicate a staggered setup with 20-inch rims at the front and 21-inch rims out back. Rumor has it the Z06 will sport 345/25 ZR21 rubber on the rear axle and the photos seem to support that hypothesis. The Corvette Z06 is expected to pack a high-revving naturally-aspirated V8 engine with a flat-plane crank, with all signs pointing to a modified version of the 5.5-liter V8 from the new C8.R race car. In the competition model, the engine is restricted to 500 hp and 480 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque, but in the Z06 road car it could make around 600 hp. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for that. Here’s The New 2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe GTS - CarScoops
Powering the Porsche Cayenne Coupe GTS will be a twin turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine.
The sporty GTS variant of the 2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe has been making the rounds recently, spotted at the Nurburgring just last month. We now assume that an official debut is imminent, since these images that made their way on Instagram courtesy of user “actu.auto.fr” appear to be press photos. Now that we can put the GT vs GTS debate to rest, let’s consider the type of powertrain we’re dealing with here. Logically, the Cayenne Coupe GTS should utilize the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 unit from the Panamera GTS. This means putting down 453 HP (460 PS) and 457 lb-ft (620 Nm) of torque, with the help of an eight-speed PDK gearbox and all-wheel drive. Watch: 2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe GTS Prototype Filmed Growling And Putting Its V8 To Good Use It was always unlikely that the GTS moniker would flex its muscles beyond what the Turbo had on tap, although there’s still room between the Turbo and the Turbo S E-Hybrid if Porsche indeed decides to fill that space with another fast Cayenne Coupe – like the rumored GT. According to actu.auto.fr, the Cayenne Coupe GTS will be able to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.5 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package, before maxing out at 270 km/h (168 mph). Also optional are the two centrally-mounted oval exhaust pipes, says the leaker. As for what else this GTS version has to offer, it’s best we wait for the official press release before speculating too much. However, we can see the presence of Porsche’s Sport Design package, adding black accents (intakes, window frames, tailpipes, mirror covers etc) as well as black GTS badges. The brakes also seem bigger than those of “lesser” Cayenne Coupe models, while the ride height appears to have been reduced, which is what happened with the Panamera GTS. Inside, there’s a lot of Alcantara being used. It’s on the steering wheel, center console grab handles, door panels, arm rest, seats and roof lining, while red contrast stitching is also present throughout. Compared to your typical Cayenne S, Turbo or Turbo S E-Hybrid interior, the cabin of the GTS is clearly more driver-focused from a visual standpoint. It’s also more youthful, which has always been the case with Porsche’s GTS models, be it the Cayenne, Macan or the 911. Cayenne GTS In case you missed that image below where the Cayenne Coupe GTS is parked next to the regular Cayenne GTS, know that the latter is also being unveiled alongside its sloped-roof sibling. The two should be identical in every way, except for the rear styling, and the exhausts (only the Coupe is said to be available with the center-mounted pipes). By the way, which look do you find more aggressive, the center pipes styling or the quad-pipes? Finally, let’s talk pricing. The 2021 Porsche Cayenne GTS will allegedly start from 114,087 euros ($130,000), while the Cayenne Coupe GTS will cost upwards of 118,490 euros ($135,000), slotting in nicely between the S and the Turbo variants. Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Night Edition Is Limited To Just 15 Units, Priced At $242,950 Each - CarScoops
The Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Night Edition is available only in the U.S. market.
It’s not very often that a carmaker will drop the names of direct competitors inside a new model’s press release. However, Daimler would like everyone in the world to know that they consider the S 650 Maybach sedan to be a direct rival to the Bentley Flying Spur and the Rolls Royce Ghost. Of course, with a $200k + price tag, the case can easily be made. The “regular” Mercedes-Maybach S 650 costs upwards of $202,550 in the United States. This one though is far from regular. Dubbed the Night Edition, this S 650 is limited to just 15 units and comes with a price tag of $242,950. Read: Mercedes-Maybach S 450 4MATIC Collector’s Edition Unveiled For China Boasting unique and distinctive black and carbon fiber elements, the Night Edition is only available for the U.S. market and is arriving now in showrooms nationwide. The exterior is finished in Obsidian Black, while the cabin gets exclusive Nappa leather upholstery in Porcelain and Black, complemented by Night Edition leather floor mats and a trunk mat in black with porcelain edges. The mandatory Night Edition badges can be found on the front fenders and interior trim. Standard features include the V12 radiator grille with Maybach lettering, Executive rear seats with power calf rests, 64-color ambient lighting, Head-Up display, LED Intelligent Light System with Ultra Wide Beam headlamps and Adaptive Highbeam Assist, the Burmester High-End 3D Surround sound system, the Driver Assistance Package, Night View Assist Plus, the AIRMATIC semi-active air suspension and Magic Body Control. Power comes from a 6.0-liter V12 biturbo engine, pushing down 621 HP (630 PS) and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque. It’s enough to get you from zero to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 4.6 seconds. Third-Gen 2023 BMW X1 Makes Spy Debut, Rocks Reasonably-Sized Grille - CarScoops
The all-new BMW X1 crossover should make its debut in late 2022.
It’s been roughly a year since BMW gave its second-generation X1 crossover a few updates, and the compact family hauler is still going strong. The first-generation E84 X1 enjoyed a six-year lifespan, from 2009 up until 2015, when the F48 went into production, making the switch to a front-wheel-drive platform. Now, a brand new model is on its way and our spy photographers have captured it on camera for the very first time. Like the current X1, this all-new one will likely be related to its 2-Series Active Tourer counterpart, which has already been spied both inside and out, pointing to yet another shift in the German carmaker’s design language. Read Also: BMW Is Honing The New 2-Series Active Tourer On The ‘Ring Despite the full-body camouflage, we can tell that the all-new X1’s taillights feature a similar, if not identical design to those of the all-new 2-Series Active Tourer. This design pushes the light clusters outwards, showing their seemingly rectangular shape. Compared to those of the current X1, these new taillights could be smaller in size. As for other differences we can ascertain, the roof seems to be more sloped, to the point where one might call the rear end of the 2023 X1 somewhat Audi Sportback-ish. Also no, we didn’t forget about the front end, which seems more pointy (or frowny), somewhat. The headlights are slimmer and the grille appears to be reasonably-sized, at least by the modern BMW standards. Last but not least, the interior. If it is to mirror that of the upcoming 2-Series Active Tourer, and it probably will, then expect a curved, driver-oriented dual display setup, with a redesigned dashboard panel, center console, and steering wheel. The 2023 BMW X1 will likely be available with a series of gasoline and diesel-powered units, as well as a plug-in hybrid option, which could still be dubbed the xDrive25e. Batman Goes Basic As New Pictures Seemingly Reveal The Upcoming Batmobile - CarScoops
The new Batmobile looks more junk yard special than Tumbler.
The Batman wont hit theaters until October 2021, but director Matt Reeves teased the new Batmobile back in March. Fast forward to today and were getting a better look at the model as concept artist Jeff Frost posted several pictures on his website. While the images were quickly removed, they were downloaded and reposted on Twitter where they were noticed by a number of sites including Slashfilm. Also Read: The New Batmobile Looks Part Fast And Furious And Part Hot Wheels Concept Model Maker Jeff Frost posted some pictures of a model of #TheBatman's Batmobile on his website! pic.twitter.com/xHNkj6WYtv — The Batman (2021) dir. Matt Reeves (@TheBatRobert) May 31, 2020 As you can see, the images closely match the earlier teasers and reveal more details about the upcoming Batmobile. Starting up front, theres a beefy bumper with integrated push bars. The model also has vertical air intakes, slender headlights and a wide grille with red illumination. Moving further back, we can see bulging front fenders and a unique hood. The model also has a relatively open cockpit with two seats and an apparent roll cage. The open design continues out back as theres no rear fascia. This leaves the rear-mounted engine exposed, which probably isnt the caped crusaders greatest idea. As you can tell from the images, this version of the Batmobile looks more like a modified car than some of specially designed vehicle like the Tumbler that was featured in Christopher Nolans Batman franchise which stared Christian Bale. Little is known about the movie at this point, but it was star Robert Pattinson who will play the title character as Ben Affleck has hung up his cape. The movie will also feature Zoë Kravitz (Catwoman), Paul Dano (The Riddler) and Jeffrey Wright as police commissioner James Gordon. Andy Serkis will take over as butler Alfred, while Colin Farrell will play The Penguin. Original Batmobile teaser
