You are on:
A lengthy Miasma Chronicles trailer is here to sell players on its tactical gameplay and stunning apocalyptic environments. Developer The Bearded Ladies has more than enough time to show off its impressive visuals thanks to the videos 17-minute runtime. Its a stunning introduction to an America that has been ravaged by a mysterious power. The graphics do their best to steal the show, but hero Elvis and his robot older brother, Diggs, still have their fair share of fun dialogue as they battle mutant frogs and gather loot. This is the kind of world you need to see for yourself, so watch the Miasma Chronicles gameplay video below.
If youre finding yourself feeling a bit of déjà vu after watching the video, thats likely because Miasma Chronicles is a spiritual successor to The Bearded Ladies’ most notable title: Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden. While that title featured anthropomorphic gun-toting critters, Miasma Chronicles focuses more on its protagonist, Elvis. Its a different story and a breathtaking new world, but the XCOM-like and exploration gameplay is still there, as players will have the freedom to roam environments in-between turn-based duels. Miasma Chronicles also has some fantasy elements, which you can read about in the short summary below:
The Lord of the Rings fans have more video games to look forward to in the next year, according to a recent financial report from franchise rights holder Embracer Group (via Insider Gaming). The company explains that it plans to launch a whopping total of five titles set in the Lord of the Rings universe by early 2024. The most notable of these titles is Daedalic Entertainments The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, which is expected to arrive sometime this year following some delays. Theres also the co-op survival game Return to Moria that is set to come to PC soon. The rest of the titles are a mystery.
Embracer says that its acquisition of Middle-earth Enterprises has generated a lot of interest among both internal and external partners. The purchase means that The Lord of the Rings will see new entries released across all media, but gaming especially will see lots of content by April of next year among these five games. Moreover, the company is expecting an exciting next few years, especially in the AAA PC and console space. A grand total of 31 big-budget titles are in the pipeline now, with 19 of them planned to launch before March 2026.
The world of mobile gaming can be tumultuous. Perhaps your title will be canceled, like the Warcraft MMO. Or a game will be remembered as being linked to someone getting arrested for insider trading. Every once in a while, though, something magical will come about. Such is the case with 404 Game Re:set. From the bizarre mind of Nier‘s Yoko Taro, 404 Game Re:set sees the visionary team up with Sega to create an Android / iOS mobile RPG with Sega franchises portrayed as anime women.
Here’s a Japanese trailer for the game, which is indeed a real thing:
The Settlers creator Volker Wertich is returning to his city-building roots with Pioneers of Pagonia, a lush, island-set colony sim coming to PC via Steam Early Access in Q4 2023. Wertich is serving as creative director for the title at Path of War developer Envision Entertainment. Instead of remaining stationary as you build out your ideal town, players are encouraged to explore their surroundings in Pioneers of Pagonia. With an art style as appealing as what is shown in the projects announcement teaser trailer, searching for crucial resources promises to be as fun as it is necessary.
With Pioneers of Pagonia, were returning to the origins of city-building simulations, with thousands of inhabitants scurrying around and a focus on the in-depth simulation of the game world and economy that the community loves so much, Wertich explained.
Today’s Nintendo Direct had something for everybody. For gamers who craved information on brand new games, there were fresh details on The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. And for the specific demographic craving a Nintendo DS resurgence, there were reveals like the Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective Switch port. Along those lines, a familiar face showed up during the presentation. The puzzle master named Professor Layton will have a brand new adventure on Nintendo Switch called Professor Layton and the New World of Steam.
Take a look at the teaser below:
Cult classic puzzle game Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is finally making the jump from Nintendo DS and mobile devices, as its set to come to PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in summer 2023. Capcom announced the adventure games long overdue ports during todays February Nintendo Direct. In addition to the footage shown during the Direct itself, Capcom uploaded a full three minutes of spiritual murder-mystery gameplay on its main channel. It looks beautiful after such a long wait, and its proof that dreams really do come true.
For those unfamiliar with Ghost Tricks history, the original title launched for Nintendo DS in Japan in 2010. A North American release followed the next year, but outside of a mobile port, the franchise was left to die as new gaming platforms launched through the years. Its no surprise to see that it picked up a fan base over time, however, with many praising its creative narrative and puzzle elements. Created by Ace Attorney mastermind Shu Takumi, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is a Capcom classic worth looking into.
