Music is food for the soul, and for others it is an escape, a way of falling in love on a bright sunny spring’s day or rather escaping to a world of the unknown where only the rhythm, beats and melodies speak to one’s heart. The world with it’s godly natural sounds, gave birth to many genres of music, from your heartfelt RnB and Soul to the upbeat roaring sounds of the township, Kwaito and from there the rhythmic, enchanting, vibrant beats of what we call House music. Many like myself believe that house music gave birth to the other genres we hear of today, but later discovered Jazz was the bearer of it all, like the famous genre of Deep house music believed to be listened my abogrootman, with their famous mantra,” the aim is not to sweat.”
But for this young man, born and bred in the small village of Ga-Mashabela, in the belly of Sekhukhune District, Limpopo Province, his love for music didn’t deter him into listening our famous genres of Hip Hop or Amapiano but the very genre that speaks to the soul, Deep House music. Justice Mahlong, professionally known as GabDeesoul in the music industry, had a love for music growing up; influenced by the affluent and talented likes of Oscar Mbo, Ezra, DJ Mlu, etc. In 2013, GabDeesoul the artist was born, he started collecting deep house music and in his music journey as only a teenager, he scored his first ever gig in Mpumalanga, Lydenburg where he discovered his talent.
As the years went by and still a high school learner, his musical journey led him to meeting a group called the 1064s Records in 2015, which helped him gain recognition in the underground music industry. Together with the 1064s Records crew, they met the HDOSDH-High Definition of Strictly Deep House on one of their gigs in Phokwane, and together they soared on to host their first ever show/event 2017. Like everything has a beginning, the show was also a first of just too many to come, he says it was one show that got him face to face with some of his favorite artists that have inspired his musical journey. The likes of Scotch Flavio, Tshipi My Man, ThabzTwentyTwo just to mention a few.
Like all of us, we have an escape; a favorite thing that helps us forget about our problems and just breathe and just like in every industry, there are bumps and hiccups here and there, but we soldier on. For GabDeesoul music was that escape. It helped him soothe pains, and triumph against all odds, it was his passion, hard work and perseverance that has kept him in the game for long especially at a young age. To finally reap the fruits of his labor and let others onto the opportunities he was once given, he started an online movement, Feel the Sessions Podcast in the year 2019. The platform was aimed at giving hope and a home for new and upcoming artists to showcase their craft, host guests and feature mixes from the Head Honcho Gds. “It has been an experience for me, and in 2021 I finally launched the brand. With the first live event at Feel the Sessions…” He said, and he further went on to explain how much of an overwhelming experience it was and also promised to give an everlasting entertainment in the industry.
Every gift is a calling, and every calling has a purpose, in his closing statements he said, “For me, music is life, and it has helped me connect with people I never knew, and I’m still looking forward to shaking as many hands out there as I preach unity for the underground.” Like they say good things do come to an end, but music is forever, deep house fans and just lovers of feel-good music can support and review GabDeesoul’s musical journey by following his Facebook pages,’ Feel the Sessions’ and ‘GabDeesoul Gds’. he also has a ‘Feel the Sessions’ merch for sale, so if you feel it, why not wear it and groove with it.

David Kimba Kyakutala
David kimba Kyakutala (born March 22, 2004) is a teenage footballer who plays as a Goalkeeper and is a social media influencer who is widely known for his content and mostly his soccer career. David Kimba is a promising talented teenage soccer player (Goalkeeper) who has set records while playing for soccer clubs such as Crusaders (2015-2018), Old Parks (2020-2021) as well as his high school and primary school soccer team.
Who Is David Kimba?
David Kimba Kyakutala is a French teenage soccer superstar who plays as a Goalkeeper. He is known for his mass social media following and his incredible talent on the soccer field. David Kimba is a social media influencer on Instagram and has a following of 23 thousand followers. He is a semi professional goalkeeper who has trialed for Norwich academy and Newcastle Academy.
By 2020 — when he was just 16 years old — He was selected to play in the Gothia Cup ( The worlds biggest football youth tournament) but the tournament got canceled due to the rise in the rapid spread of the Covid-19 infections.
In the 2019 GGT final, David kept a record clean sheet of 5 out of 7. He set a franchise record for clean sheets kept in 2019, before Old Parks offered him a contract for his services the following year.
In that same year, David participated in an indoor Tournament with his friends who were also his high school team mates. His team made it through to the finals and were crowned winners of the tournament.
Among his many accomplishments, he has won a record-tying eight Goalkeeper awards for player of the year, and led I.R Griffith primary school to an emotional victory in the 2017 Discovery Championship. In January 2018, David embarked on a new phase of his career by going to a High-school (High-school not mentioned).
David Kimba was born on March 22, 2004, in Motare, Zimbabwe , a part on the western coast of the country. David is the oldest of three children born to Raoul Mwabeya Kyakutala and Clemence Mbale Kyakutala and his siblings being Dan Kyakutala and Brian Mbale. He was named after David, the historical biblical being that is known for his defeat on Goliath. The name David means “A man after God’s own heart.”
David grew up in a largely working class neighborhood in a decent sized roofed home that overlooked the a large amount of land. David was introduced to the game of soccer through his peers.
His early life was shaped by hardship, as he often got bullied so much. To help keep the children fed and maintain some financial stability, Davids mother worked as a Lawyer and his father as a Voice Polygrapher.
David recalled his beginning to the game of football and how his love for the game progressed through the VNW podcast stating,
“Back in fourth grade, we always played against the older grades at break time and we lost every single time. It was not fun anymore. We kept on losing because everyone was too scared to take the position of goalkeeper because they were afraid of handling shots from older kids. Then one day, I just decided to take the position because I thought it wouldn’t be a bad experience. I’m not going to lie to you and tell you that I was saving everything and being that heroic goalkeeper. It was a rough experience for me, I made many mistakes, and I grew from that and I began to develop into the guy I am today. I constantly wanted to seek improvements into the position and from that I began to find more love for the game, and it made me who I am today. I have no regrets.”
By the time David was 10 years old, he was already recognized as a phenomenon — a kid who ate, slept and drank soccer. "All he wanted to do as a boy was play football," his grandmother, Josephine Kyakutala , recalled for British reporters, adding, "He loved the game so much he'd miss meals or escape out of his bedroom with a ball when he was supposed to be doing his homework."
By his early teens, David’s talent and legend had grown considerably. After a stint with the Crusaders , he signed with Old Parks in 2019.
In 2019, when David was playing for his high school team, his childhood best friend died from kidney problems; in 2020, another one of his friends was diagnosed with Leukemia. The former was especially hard for David Kimba since he and his friends were close.
After dropping hints that his time with Old Parks was coming to an end, David confirmed the rumors in July 2021 by trialing at English Premier League club Norwich.
David paid tribute to fans in an open letter on the club's website, writing: "These years playing football and in this city of London and Johannesburg have quite possibly been the happiest years of my life. I only have feelings of great gratitude to this club, to the fans and to the city. I can only give thanks to all of them for the love and affection that I have received."
By most measures, Davids debut trial with Norwich was a successful one. He saved 4 penalties in his first 11 games.
After his successful season in his high school team, he was named the teams MVP in May 2018.
David is currently in high school in Johannesburg and has refused to state the high school he attends because of security reasons.
David was asked about his hobbies and everyday routines
“You know, I love to keep myself busy. I simply hate being bored because it’s a complete waste of time. I love to watch Anime and play sports. I don’t really like going out to gatherings and stuff like that, it’s just who I am. I don’t drink, smoke or even party. I’m just chilling and I love it. I enjoy drawing, doing activities which require a huge amount of creativity. I choose to be different from others. I do get made fun of my ways and the way I live my life but you know, that’s how it is. I am destined to learn new things and I am constantly curious about life itself and it’s meaning. I am a religious person, I believe in Jesus Christ and accept him as my Lord and Savior. He is the number one most important person in my entire life. I can’t live without him.”

The real reason China is pushing “digital sovereignty” in Africa.
In 2018, FOCAC culminated in a total $60 billion promise by the Chinese to back numerous major infrastructure projects across Africa, with a mix of loans and grants underwritten by Chinese financial institutions, including the Export-Import Bank of China. It was all seen under the auspices of China’s ambitious Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), to build roads, bridges, and ports across the world, fully connecting China to the global economy via a modern-day Silk Road.
But it is the evolution of the “Digital Silk Road,” a term coined by Xi in a 2015 state white paper, that has quietly become a contentious topic for China-Africa watchers. The Digital Silk Road (DSR) includes everything from cross-border e-commerce, smart cities, and fintech apps through to big data, internet of things, smartphones, and undersea cables. These projects don’t grab headlines like shiny new Chinese-built airports and railways or spark panicked fears of China’s “debt trap diplomacy.” But the unfettered influence of Chinese firms developing every step of the digital ecosystem in nearly all African countries has become a growing point of concern, particularly for China’s rivals in the United States.
As Motolani Agbebi, a researcher at Tampere University in Finland, told Rest of World, significant Chinese involvement in Africa’s telecoms sector actually predates DSR. Between 1999 and 2001, Huawei and ZTE first started working consistently on the continent, supported by China’s “go out policy,” which promoted the internationalization of Chinese companies.

Mubarak Bala, President of the Humanist Association of Nigeria, has been detained for 525 days now, after being arrested in April 2020, for an alleged Facebook post he made, speaking out about Prophet Muhammad, which was considered 'blasphemous" and therefore, a "crime".
If he is found guilty, he faces the ultimate sentence of death by execution under Muslim Sharia law. He is currently imprisoned in a predominantly Muslim state, which practices Sharia law alongside Customary law (which carries the lighter sentence of imprisonment for up to 2 years).
As an ex Muslim, now Atheist, Mubarak cannot be tried under Sharia law, but numerous pleas to transfer him to a neutral state, have simply been ignored.
He was arrested on the grounds of his post allegedly being "blasphemous" - despite Nigeria's Constitution (Sections 38-39) guaranteeing its citizens the rights of "freedom of thought, expression & religion" (and even the right to change their religious belief, if they so choose).
Anti blasphemy laws therefore violate International Human Rights terms, which are protected by all major Human Rights agreements, to which Nigeria is a signatory, and include the :
- Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
- International Covenant on Civil & Political Rights.
- African Charter on Human & People's Rights.
These are not the only Human Rights violations that Mubarak Bala has had to endure since his arrest, others include -:
- being arrested and not charged in writing within 24 hours as is required by law, but rather 6 days later.
- being denied legal counsel for around 6 months, and to date (almost one and a half years later) still only having been allowed to have contact with them ONCE - his legal counsel it constantly obstructed.
- having his Fundamental Rights petition case heard after 7 months and not within days, as per the law.
- Having the Abuja High Court Order for his immediate release in December BLATANTY ignored - as he is still detained 10 months after the Order was given.
- not being provided with his daily Chronic medication. Being refused medical treatment and told he's "faking it to try and get out". All this whilst in the middle of the global Covid-19 pandemic and in close prison quarters, where the virus can easily spread.
The United Nations clearly aren't doing their job - they're not even upholding the "Minimum Rules For The Treatment of Prisoners" (the "Mandela Rules ") by providing Mubarak Bala with healthcare, which, in essence, means that they are committing Human Rights violations, too.
The 'powers that be' in Nigeria are not only violating Mubarak Bala's Human Rights but are also blatantly disregarding an order of their own Federal High Court, as well as not following the guidelines they themselves have set, in order to enforce the law (eg grounds of detention must be given in writing within 24 hours of arrest).
How can all this be allowed ? Nigeria has been a Member State of the United Nations since 1960 and there are UN representatives resident in the country. Letters have been sent to the United Nations, publicity has been raised about the situation, lawyers have made appeals - yet nothing has been done and the current situation is leaving people with more questions than answers.
